‘I’ll represent Namibia with purpose, passion and pride’

Johanna Swartbooi

Miss Universe Namibia 2025 Johanna Swartbooi says she is determined to carry Namibia’s “purpose, passion and pride” onto the international stage as she competes at the 74th Miss Universe pageant in Thailand.

Swartbooi is currently in Pak Kret, Nonthaburi, where the pageant will be hosted on 21 November at the Impact Challenger Hall.

Denmark’s Victoria Theilvig will crown her successor at the end of the event.

Miss Universe is regarded as one of the world’s four major beauty pageants alongside Miss World, Miss International and Miss Earth.

Speaking from Thailand, Swartbooi over the weekend said she is fully prepared to represent her country.

“Here I am, ready, rooted in home and reaching for the universe,” she said.

“I have witnessed the incredible growth of the Miss Universe Organisation and the way it empowers women to become global leaders. I believe this power will create impact beyond the crown.”

She said her participation is driven by a deep sense of duty.

“To stand out is to shine a light for others, and that responsibility I carry not with pressure, but with purpose,” she said.

“From the land of three million voices, I stand proud as a Namibian, African, and above all, human.”

Swartbooi, who hails from Vaalgras, said she draws strength from her upbringing.

“I carry with me the warmth of the women who raised me and the caring arms of a community that believed in me long before I believed in myself,” she said.

She said her journey extends beyond the pageant.

“As a daughter of Vaalgras, a woman of faith and a proud Namibian, my mission is to empower creative entrepreneurs, ignite innovation and remind every dreamer that brilliance is not just how we shine, but how we help others shine too,” she said.

“This journey is not just mine – it’s for every Namibian and person who dares to dream boldly and lead with purpose.”

Swartbooi said she has embraced the experience of meeting contestants from around the world.

“It is an unforgettable experience sharing stories, laughter and dreams with incredible young women from across the universe,” she said.

“It’s such a treat to get to know my fellow queens, each with her own inspiring journey.”

As she continues her preparations ahead of the final night, Swartbooi said representing Namibia remains her greatest motivation.

“With focus in my heart and purpose in my stride, I step forward on this beautiful journey to Miss Universe. Representing my homeland fills me with pride and gratitude,” she said.
