Gal Level to take five-year break

Gal Level to take five-year break

NAMIBIAN female duo Gal Level are to release a final album before taking a five-year recording break, their mentor Sula Kyababa has told The Namibian in an exclusive interview.

The decision threatens to end a successful 10-year relationship during which the group has won local and continental awards, including the Female Artists of the Year award at last year’s Namibia Annual Music Awards (Namas).Sula shrugged off speculations that the five-year break could eventually lead to the break-up of Gal Level, adding that they will continue with live performances during the period.’Gal Level will continue to exist, there is no way they can break up. Ten years is a very long period for any group to exist and it is only logical to take a little break. Gal Level will exist for a very long time to come.’But in order to do that they need a little rest from the studio. It is really energy-sapping to perform and record at the same time for 10 consecutive years. The girls are taking a break to give attention to their private lives,’ he said.Sula pointed out that Gal Level, who are set to perform at the New Year’s Bash at Rosh Pinah tomorrow, will continue to perform at live shows.Gal Level will release their new album ‘Final Chapter’ at the end of February.
