Acceptance speech by Hon. Fritz Hangue, Chairperson of the Fourth Junior National Council.
The Right Honourable Dr. Elijah Tjitunga Ngurare, Prime Minister of the Republic of Namibia;
Honourable Lukas Sinimbo Muha, MP, Chairperson of the National Council;
Honourable Emma Tangi Muteka, Vice-Chairperson of the National Council;
Mrs Toshiko Takahashi, Deputy Country Representative for UNICEF Namibia;
Your Excellency Zhao Weiping, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China;
Honourable Members of the Junior National Council;
Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen.
It is with great humility and sincere gratitude that I accept the responsibility of serving as the Chairperson of the 4th Junior National Council. To me, the significance of this position extends far beyond the title of “Chairperson.”
It represents a responsibility to serve as a facilitator, a listener, and a leader. The Chairperson has the responsibility of creating a space where every member feels heard, where different perspectives can be expressed freely and respectfully, and where our discussions can ultimately translate into meaningful ideas and recommendations for our country. I see this position as an opportunity to help ensure that the voices of young Namibians are not merely heard, but taken seriously.
Each member of this Council brings their own experiences, ideas and aspirations, and it will be my responsibility to help bring those voices together in a manner that allows us to learn from one another and work towards a common purpose. I would therefore like to sincerely thank every member who placed their confidence in me through their vote. Your support is something I do not take for granted.
I also ask for your continued support, cooperation and constructive criticism throughout my tenure, because effective leadership cannot be achieved by one person alone. As I accept this responsibility today, I pledge my continued commitment, dedication and impartiality to the Junior National Council.
I will do my utmost to serve this Council with integrity and to uphold the trust that has been placed in me. With the assistance and cooperation of every member, and with the guidance and support of our national leadership, I am confident that we can make this 4th Junior National Council a platform that does more than discuss the future of Namibia; we can begin shaping it.
