Food prices goup by 4.6%

With Christmas just around the corner, food prices are recording an increase of 4.6%.

According to the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA), food and non-alcoholic beverages recorded an annual inflation rate of 4.6% in October.

This is, however, a decline when compared to the 5.1% recorded last October.

This means if a loaf of bread was N$10.51 in October last year, it was N$10.46 last month.

“On a monthly basis, the price level for this category remained unchanged at 0% in October 2025, consistent with the 0% recorded in the previous month,” the NSA’s report says.

Chocolate, honey, sweets, jams, fruits, coffee, tea and cocoa all recorded increases.

Meanwhile, eggs, cheese and milk recorded a deflation of 1%.

“The decline was mainly driven by weaker price movements in the sub-components of cream, fresh milk and preserved milk,” the report reads.
