First National Bank (FNB) Namibia on Wednesday announced a partnership with the City of Windhoek to advance the capital’s ‘smart city’ agenda, with a focus on improving public safety through enhanced surveillance infrastructure.
The partnership will see FNB Namibia contribute N$569 202 to the city’s ‘smart’ policing strategy.
The bank says the funding will be used to procure and install advanced closed-circuit television systems in identified high-priority areas, including dual-lens panoramic cameras, vertical pole mounts and automatic number plate recognition cameras equipped with artificial intelligence technology.
FNB Namibia chief operating officer Roger Forbes says modern surveillance systems play a key role in deterring crime, enabling faster incident response and supporting law enforcement through reliable evidence.
