Fly Angola connects Luanda and Windhoek

Angolan air services company Fly Angola launched a new offering on 21 December, connecting Windhoek to Luanda via Benguela.

According to a statement issued by Namibia Airports Company (NAC) spokesperson Dan Kamati yesterday, Fly Angola will offer three flights a week – on Monday, Wednesday and Friday – from Luanda International Airport to Hosea Kutako International Airport, via Benguela’s Catumbela Airport in Angola.

The statement says Air Connect Namibia, a collaborative air service development initiative mandated to improve air access to the country, welcomed the Fly Angola initiative.

Air Connect’s stakeholders include the NAC, Gondwana Collection, the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board, the Walvis Bay Corridor Group, the Namibia Tourism Board and the City of Windhoek.

“We warmly welcome Fly Angola to our shores which will greatly benefit the strong, historical ties between Namibia and Angola,” said Bisey

/Uirab, the chairperson of Air Connect Namibia and chief executive of the NAC.

“The commencement of this route comes at a time when our people in both countries need to spend time with family and friends and connect for business [and] the festive season, and we encourage travellers to truly make this route worthwhile,” /Uirab added.

Benguela is a coastal town in southern Angola known for its beautiful beaches, including the popular Baía Azul beach.

The town also has important industrial facilities, such as the Lobito Oil Refinery.

Visitors to Benguela can enjoy delicious seafood, explore the surrounding natural beauty and experience the rich local culture, the statement adds.

Fly Angola was founded in 2018 by a group of Angolan business people to boost safe air traffic for passengers and cargo, and connect people with the best that Angola has to offer.
