Five suspects linked to several high-profile robbery cases in Windhoek, including the recent alleged murder of Fiina Nghifikwa, were arrested by the Namibian Police and the City Police on Tuesday.
The police in a media statement issued on Wednesday, said the suspects were on the police’s wanted list for their alleged involvement in armed robberies and murders committed across the city between April and July this year.
These include the robbery of the Namcor service station in Soweto in April, a cash-in-transit heist at Khomasdal Choppies in May, the robbery at the Namcor service station in Khomasdal, the robbery at Lafrenz Total service station, as well as the alleged murder of Nghifikwa in Wanaheda, all in July.
The 39-year-old Nghifikwa was fatally shot on 22 July 2025 on Kigali Street in Wanaheda during an armed robbery.
Nghifikwa and a friend were allegedly lured to a location under the pretext of viewing a room for rent. They were picked up by an individual who claimed he would take them to the property. However, once inside the vehicle, the individual reportedly pulled out a gun and stole their belongings. During the incident, Nghifikwa was allegedly shot and rushed to Katutura Health Centre, where she was declared dead on arrival.
“Following weeks of intensive investigations and coordinated, intelligence-led operations, our dedicated officers from NamPol and the City Police successfully apprehended individuals believed to be part of a criminal syndicate,” it read.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court in Katutura on Thursday.
