THE SKW Sports Klub Windhoek held its annual awards ceremony on Friday.
Twenty-five sportsmen and women received awards from the SKW main club, which has 13 divisions. The same occasion is used to hand over the ‘club needle’ for uninterrupted membership of 30, 40 and 50 years.The pure gold SKW 60-year club needle is the highest honour that the club bestows on its members. Since the club was founded in 1951, next year will be the first opportunity for members to earn this accolade. A few members have so far received the 55-year needle.The club’s history dates back to 1900 when it was a gymnastics club only. It started with soccer, tennis and some more sport codes in 1945 and was then called Fortuna 45.
