Deep Yellow has awarded N$392.6 million in construction contracts to two 100% Namibian-owned firms, Namibia Construction and Nexus Building and Civils Contractors, for its Tumas Uranium Project.
The tender awards mark a key step toward the project’s anticipated final investment decision (FID) later this year.
Mobilisation is scheduled for August.
The contracts will generate roughly 500 local jobs, with each contractor deploying about 250 employees at the site.
The scope of work covers essential civil and concrete infrastructure across the Tumas processing facilities, creating multiple active work fronts to streamline execution and minimise delay risks.
Deep Yellow Namibia managing director Zebra Kasete says the announcement is a milestone for local industry and enterprise development.
“Today’s announcement is a celebration of Namibian capability. It demonstrates that local companies have the expertise and capacity to deliver projects of international significance,” Kasete says.
He says further supply, trade, and employment opportunities will follow as development progresses.
