THE Keetmanshoop Regional Court yesterday postponed until June 22 the continuation of the trial of former Karas governor, Dawid Boois due to availability of the presiding Divisional Magistrate, Sunsley Zisengwe.
Boois, who faces 24 counts of corruption, is accused of allegedly using his position as Governor for gratification by allegedly pocketing a monthly housing subsidy of N$7 500 over a 24-month period while living in a Government house. At the start of the trial, Boois pleaded not guilty to charges of corruption but admitted that he received the housing subsidy while he stayed in a Government house. He however claimed that the residence was not an official Governor’s house. Boois, who is represented by lawyer Sisa Namandje, remains free on warning.
