CIVICS and Tigers moved into second place on the Namibia Premier League log after the ninth round of Premier League action on Sunday.
Civics beat United Stars 2-1 in Rundu with Costa Khaiseb scoring both goals to move into second place on the log on 17 points. They are slightly ahead of Tigers on goal difference, after the latter beat Eleven Arrows 2-0 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium, with Benson Shilongo and Pineas Jacob finding the target.Both teams are well behind the leaders Black Africa, who beat Ramblers 2-0 on Wednesday to move six points clear at the top on 23 points.On Friday night, African Stars suffered their second consecutive defeat to move down to fourth position on 16 points. Stars lost 1-0 to SKW, with Panduleni Nekundi scoring the winning goal early in the second half.Hotspurs scored an important away victory, beating Mighty Gunners 3-2 in Otjiwarongo.Both teams are now in mid-table on nine points each. Blue Waters recorded their first victory of the season when they beat Orlando Pirates 2-1 in Walvis Bay. Blue Waters took the lead after only 5m through Reggie Haraseb, while Tjiurikouse Jaua made it 2-0 on 29m. Frans de Muinda pulled a goal back for Pirates on 36m but it was not enough as Blue Waters held on for their victory. Blue Waters now join Pirates and Mighty Gunners on 9 points on the log.
