RUNDU Chiefs and Tura Magic secured their maiden places in the elite football league after winning their respective first division streams over the weekend.
Chiefs earned promotion from the Northern Stream First Division to the Namibia Premier League following a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Touch & Go on Saturday. While Magic’s 1-all draw with Young Beauties – coupled with second-placed Monitronic College failing to collect maximum points in their two matches on Saturday and yesterday – was enough to guarantee premier league football next season.Meanwhile Oshakati City descended into further gloom as they were relegated from the NSFD just eleven months after dropping down from the NPL. Defeats to Onambula United (1-0) and Unam Ogongo (3-2) sent the former premier league heavyweights down to the second division along with Robber Chanties, who failed to honour their final two matches. Young Ones were also relegated from the SSFD and could be joined by Fedics United or Windhoek United.
