Cheetah Cement employees to receive 10% salary increase

The Mineworkers Union of Namibia (MUN) and Whale Rock Cement (trading as Cheetah Cement) have reached a wage agreement that will see employees getting a salary increase of 6%.

The wage agreement covers the period June 2025 to 30 April 2027 and stipulates that all employees within the bargaining unit will receive a 10% wage increase, of which 6% will be effected before the end of 2025 and the remaining 4% in May 2026.

“For 2025, employees will receive back pay for the 6% increase, covering the period from June 2025 to 12 December 2025,” reads a statement issued yesterday.

According to the statement, both parties agree that the demands by MUN pertaining to a review of the housing allowance and payment of a performance bonus must be deferred, as Whale Rock Cement is not in a position to consider such demands due to current financial constraints.
