Thereafter she will return to Namibia to continue working on her From the Ground Up sewing-school project.
Rabe arrived in Curacao on 26 October after travelling to France and South Africa.
“As Miss Supranational I was invited to the crowning of the first-ever Miss Supranational Curacao and Queen Auto City. I also had the opportunity to explore the beautiful island and its people, history, and culture.
“The white beaches and clear turquoise water are very special. I also enjoy the Dutch influence as it reminds me of home and my Dutch grandmother. The nation truly looks after each other, and everyone has each others best interests at heart,” she says.
Rabe says she is extending her stay in Curacao, because she wanted to explore the island more.
“I now have the chance to properly get to know the community as well. I have visited a few schools for some motivational talks, as well as taken part in beach clean-ups and turtle-rescue projects. I am very excited to announce that I will also be starting a junior sewing programme here, which means I am broadening my sewing-school project,” Rabe says.
While visiting a local school, Rabe says she had the chance to answer students questions about Namibia.
“Even though you may not have heard of Namibia, our countries have more similarities than differences. They both have small populations, beautiful landscapes, incredibly diverse cultures, and beautiful and warm people. But their ocean is definitely warmer than ours, and I am loving that,” she says.
She says her visit to Curacao has been unforgettable thus far.
“The people here are so friendly and always willing to help to make everything special. It was an absolute honour to be present at the first crowning of these pageants, and to crown the title holders. I have found so many similarities between Curacao and my beautiful Namibia,” she says.
Rabe says as part of her duties she enjoys travelling around the world, but is looking forward to returning to Namibia to continue working on her projects.
“Of course its amazing to be travelling the world and meeting new people and projects, but I am also missing home and will be excited to not only be back with my family, but to see the kids from the sewing schools,” she says.
