Ondonga chief Fillemon Shuumbwa Nangolo on Wednesday appointed businessman John Walenga as chairperson of the Ondonga Traditional Council.
Former diplomat and ex-chairperson of the Public Service Commission Eddie Amkongo will be the traditional council’s deputy chairperson.
Walenga, a senior traditional councillor for Ondangwa district, is succeeding the late Vilho Kamanja, who died nearly two weeks ago, as chairperson.
The Ondonga chief also appointed Amkongo as acting senior traditional councillor of Amuteya district.
The district was previously headed by Kamanja, until his death on 31 December last year.

Shipanga is deputised by Israel Nkondi, while Kadhila Ngalangombe is acting deputy senior councillor for Onalusheshete district.
Former Oshikoto Regional Council chief regional officer Frans Enkali is now the spokesperson of the Ondonga Traditional Authority.
