A newborn baby’s body was found wrapped in a plastic bag in a riverbed in the Katutura area of Windhoek on Friday afternoon.
This was announced by the national spokesperson of the Namibian Police, deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, on Sunday.
Shikwambi said the discovery was made around 16h00 on Friday on Disciples Street in the Marula area of Katutura, after children playing nearby noticed a foul smell coming from a riverbed.
Shikwambi reported that a case of concealment of birth has been opened. No arrests have been made, and investigations are continuing.
“No suspect has been identified at this stage,” Shikwambi said. “We urge anyone with information to report to the nearest police station,” she said.
