A BABY (1) at Otjiwarongo died after allegedly being left alone at home on Monday.
National police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi says the incident took place at around 20h00.
“The infant, Monica Kondjashili, born on 10 April, 2023, was found on the bed wrapped in a yellow baby blanket inside a shack room at Telecom location at the town.
“It is alleged that the 25-year-old mother left the child unattended to go to a nearby shebeen. When she returned home and wanted to breastfeed, she realised the baby was dead.
“The baby was not sick, according to the mother and neighbours, and it is reported that the mother was under the influence of alcohol,” Shikwambi says.
