Agronomic board awarded for excellence

The Namibian Agronomic Board (NAB) was presented a Southern African Development Community Accreditation Service (Sadcas) certificate in Windhoek on Thursday.

The board says the certificate, which was presented to NAB chief executive Fidelis Mwazi by Sadcas chief executive Eve Gadzikwa, recognises its commitment to excellence in regulating agronomic and horticultural products in Namibia.

The NAB is a statutory body mandated to promote the agronomic industry and to facilitate the production, storage and marketing of controlled products in Namibia.

“The ISO/IEC 17020:2012 is an internationally recognised standard that specifies requirements for the competence of bodies performing inspection and for the impartiality and consistency of their inspection activities.

“By obtaining this accreditation, the NAB has demonstrated that its inspection processes meet global standards for quality and reliability,” the NAB says in a statement.

The board’s recent accreditation is testament to its dedication to maintaining high-quality inspection services in Namibia’s agronomic and horticultural sectors, Gadzikwa says.

“This achievement not only enhances the NAB’s credibility, but also opens up new avenues for international trade and continuous improvement, ultimately benefiting the entire Namibian crop industry,” she says.

Sadcas is a multi-economy accreditation body incorporated in Botswana as a non-profit company limited by guarantee in pursuit of economic improvement and further regional integration among SADC member states.

It is responsible for the accreditation of laboratories, certification bodies and inspection bodies to international standards.
