OVER 170 young runners, Scouts, and supporters lit up Peter Müller Street in Windhoek when the inaugural Scouts City Run hosted by the second Windhoek Scouts Group was held last Saturday.
Organised as a countdown to the group’s 10th anniversary in August, young people could take part in the 5km, 10km, and 21km events.
“Today wasn’t a race – it was a chance to celebrate with youth, with teamwork, and with the power of togetherness,” group scouter of the second Windhoek Scouts Paulus Hanghome said after the event.
“The fact that so many people showed up shows how much is invested in youth-led activities like scouting.”
The event was supported by parents, volunteers, and fitness clubs 247 Fitness and Genesis Gym.
With safety being coordinated by Windhoek City Police and emergency rescue services standing by, runners could have a safe and enjoyable experience.
Following the race, young Scouts operated food stalls to raise money for their coming Scout Fest scheduled for 2
August at the TransNamib Bowling Club.
