The Ministry of Urban and Rural Development urges young Namibians to embrace innovation, technology and entrepreneurship to help drive the country’s economic transformation.
Speaking on behalf of minister James Sankwasa, Kavango West Regional Council chairperson Fillips Tenga at the opening of the Nkurenkuru Expo on Wednesday said Namibia’s economic future depends on the creativity, resilience and determination of young entrepreneurs to build businesses that create jobs and add value to local resources.
He said youth-led enterprises are key to expanding the economy and reducing unemployment, calling on young people to seize opportunities presented by technological advancement and innovation.
He encouraged the private sector to invest in towns across the country by supporting local businesses and partnering with local authorities to improve infrastructure and service delivery.
“Stronger collaboration between businesses and local authorities is essential for sustainable economic growth and improving the quality of life of communities,” he said.
Held under the theme ‘Empowering Economic Growth and Celebrating Heritage’, the Nkurenkuru Expo provides a platform to promote trade, investment and entrepreneurship while showcasing the cultural heritage of the Kavango West region.
