A CASE of assault with the intention to inflict grievous bodily harm has been opened against boxer Willbeforce Shihepo (35) after he allegedly choked a man in a Rehoboth bar on Friday.
The incident that was caught on camera shows a man, said to be Shihepo, choking Xavier Beukes (34) and causing him to fall to the floor and sustaining an injury to the head.
Beukes, who spoke to on Monday, said he needed five stitches for the head wound.
Police at Rehoboth said Shihepo has yet to be arrested and that the case was still being investigated.
When called for comment on Monday, Shihepo denied that it was him in the video choking Beukes.
Shihepo is currently out on bail after he was arrested and charged with culpable homicide following a car crash that claimed the lives of a 54-year-old man and his six-year-old daughter last year.
