Two take own lives over weekend

A woman’s body (20) was discovered at Yinsu village in the Kavango West region on Friday.

The incident was confirmed by national police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi in the weekend crime report issued on Sunday.

“The body of Johanna Joseph, a 20-year-old Namibian woman, was found by her cousin in her bedroom,” Shikwambi says.

She says the motive remains unknown and no suicide note was found. Joseph’s next of kin have been informed.

In a separate incident, the body of Antonio Platt (45) was found at his mother’s house at Okahandja.

It is alleged that Platt took his own life on Saturday at around 21h30.

“No foul play is suspected, and no suicide note was left behind. The body was transported to the Okahandja State Mortuary for storage pending an autopsy in Windhoek,” Shikwambi says.
