A man (33) was arrested at Tsumeb after he was allegedly found in possession of suspected stolen meat worth N$3 500.
According to the Namibian police’s weekend crime report, the suspect was arrested on Saturday at around 11h00 at a house in the Soweto location of Tsumeb in the Oshikoto region.
National police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi says the suspect failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for possessing the meat.
“The dry beef meat, valued at N$3 500, was recovered,” she says.
In a separate stock theft incident, a goat was allegedly stolen and slaughtered at Okakoko village in the Omuthiya district on Friday.
It is alleged that the suspect stole one goat from the complainant’s kraal and slaughtered it in a neighbouring camp.
The complainant also discovered two female goats that had been killed in her kraal.
The total value of the three goats is estimated at N$2 500.
“No arrests have been made and police investigations continue,” Shikwambi says.
