The upcoming Namibia Annual Wedding Expo & Summit has finalised a strategic partnership with the Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) ahead of its 2026 edition.

The partnership aims to accelerate skills development and unlock funding pipelines for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the creative economy.

The two-day event is scheduled to take place on 5 and 6 June at the Windhoek Showgrounds.

This year, organisers are projecting between 500 and 1 000 attendees, bringing together local couples, event planners, corporate clients and high-level public-sector stakeholders, including Namibia Wildlife Resorts and the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board.

Event director Helao Mathias, who serves as the chief executive of the Fashion Bank of Namibia, says the platform has evolved beyond a conventional commercial trade show.

“The weddings and events sector is one of the fastest-growing creative industries in Namibia, and the Namibia Annual Wedding Expo & Summit has positioned itself at the centre of that growth,” Mathias says.

“More than a marketplace for couples and vendors, the expo and summit has become a skills accelerator and funding conduit for SMEs looking to compete on a global stage.”

The event will provide targeted capacity-building workshops covering pricing strategies, digital marketing and international service standards.

“Since its inception, the expo and summit has prioritised capacity building for local vendors, designers, caterers, planners, photographers and creatives,” Mathias says.

“By connecting SMEs with corporate partners, tourism bodies and investors during the event, many vendors have secured contracts, sponsorships and collaborations that would otherwise be out of reach.”

A core feature of the 2026 event is the introduction of the ‘Know NTB Campaign’.

This joint initiative leverages the Miss Namibia top 10 finalists to discover and groom the next official NTB ambassador, tasked with championing local tourism assets.

“The campaign places the top 10 Miss Namibia finalists at the forefront as potential Namibian tourism ambassadors, giving them a platform to champion the ‘Destination Namibia’ story to both local and global audiences,” Mathias says.

“This partnership reflects a shared understanding: weddings, events and tourism are interconnected drivers of economic opportunity.”

The collaboration aims to bring together the NTB’s national leisure campaign with the expo’s niche event-industry marketing.

“The Wedding Expo & Summit runs a complementary campaign, ‘Namibia as a Wedding Destination’, which highlights the country’s landscapes, venues and service providers as ideal for destination weddings and events,” Mathias says.

“This initiative strengthens the alignment between the expo’s ‘Namibia as a Wedding Destination’ campaign and the NTB’s ‘Destination Namibia’ campaign, showcasing Namibia not only as a breathtaking travel destination, but also as a world-class location for weddings, events and creative collaboration.”

Following the business workshops and industry panels on 5 June, the venue will open to the general public on 6 June for exhibitions, live activations and bridal fashion showcases.

“By combining practical skills development, direct funding pathways and strategic alignment with national tourism goals, the Namibia Annual Wedding Expo & Summit is doing more than showcasing beautiful events,” Mathias says.

“It is building a creative industry that can compete, and win, on a world standard.”
