UNDER WATER

UNDER WATER … The Roads Authority (RA) over the weekend announced that eight roads in the ||Kharas region have been temporarily closed due to heavy rainfall and flooding. The RA says the closures are necessary to ensure the safety of all road users, who have been urged to drive with caution and use alternative routes where available. The affected roads include district roads D205, D269, D462, D463, D459, D417 and D421, as well as main road M25 between Karasburg and Aroab. The RA says some routes, such as district road D417, currently have no alternative options available. Other routes have been redirected through trunk and main roads linking areas such as Ariamsvlei, Grünau, Keetmanshoop, Aus and Rosh Pinah. At Sossusvlei Park and the Vlei yesterday, plenty of water transformed the landscape and the desert came to life. Access to Sossusvlei is currently only possible by 4×4 vehicle with experienced drivers.
