ORLANDO Pirates striker Terdius Uiseb is the leading goal scorer at the halfway stage of the Namibia Premier League.
Uiseb has scored 11 goals in 15 matches to help his team move into third place on the log. Pirates are currently on 28 points from 15 matches – nine points behind leaders Tigers, and three points behind second-placed Black Africa.
Black Africa striker Muna Katupose is second on the list, two goals behind Uiseb on nine goals.
Katupose has been in fine form of late, scoring in three of their last four matches to move up the goal scorers chart. He scored in their 1-0 win against Rundu Chiefs on 21 November and then scored all three goals in BA’s 3-1 win against Young Chiefs the next day. He failed to find the target in a 1-0 win against Mighty Gunners on 28 November, but the following day was once again on target in a 1-1 draw against Citizens.
Tigers striker Mapenzi Muwanei is third on the chart with eight goals. He had gone three matches without a goal, but hit back in style with a brace in Tigers’ 3-0 victory against Eleven Arrows on 29 November.
Papi Kavezembi of Tura Magic is fourth on the list with six goals. He scored a goal in their final match, a 2-1 win against Young Chiefs, which saw them moving up to seventh place on the log on 19 points.
Five players share fifth spot on five goals each, namely Wilbard Simeon of United Stars, Uaondjarure Nakambare of Mighty Gunners, Upengisa Ujaha of Unam, Simon Nekongo of Eleven Arrow and Absalom Iimbondi of Tigers.
The NPL has gone into recess now and will resume again when the second round starts on 23 January.
