UDF gets into gear for elections

THE central committee of the United Democratic Front meets at Outjo this weekend to finalise its manifesto and list of candidates for the National Assembly elections of November 27 and 28.

The party’s youth wing met last weekend to finalise its list of candidates for consideration.’There shall also be a public meeting on Sunday starting 13h30 with a street march followed by a public meeting to be addressed by the President of the party, Justus //Garoëb, Secretary General Dudu Murorua and the Chairperson of the youth league, Michael Skini, and other speakers,’ Nampara Am!gâbes, the party’s administrative secretary, said.The central committee meeting of September 12 and 13 at Outjo will also end with a public rally to be addressed by //Garoëb, UDF deputy president Simson Tjongarero and the deputy secretary of the women’s league, Magreth Pieters.The UDF central committee is the second highest decision-making body of the party.The party has three members in the National Assembly and one in the National Council and is preparing for a serious onslaught from the ruling Swapo Party, which has set as one of its targets the Kunene Region where UDF dominates.
