Security officer Tobias Nghimane (58) has won an award for representing the spirit of the Namibia University of Science and Technology (Nust).
The university’s Eenhana campus in the Ohangwena region established a brand ambassador award in 2025 to recognise employees who “consistently go above and beyond”.
“In his role as a security guard, he goes beyond his core responsibilities by treating everyone with respect, maintaining a welcoming presence, demonstrating reliability and taking pride in his work,” Nust spokesperson Nashilongo Gervasius says.
Nghimane’s colleagues nominated him for the award.
“A brand ambassador leads by example, demonstrates integrity, delivers excellent service, and positively influences the experiences of students, colleagues and stakeholders, while serving as a proud representative of the Namibia University of Science and Technology brand,” Gervasius says.
Nghimane received a cash prize of N$1 000, a certificate of recognition and a hamper for winning the award.
He is a dedicated, professional and positive colleague to have around, his colleagues at Nust’s Eenhana campus say.
“I’m very happy that I’ve been given this award,” Nghimane told The Namibian through a translator.
He has been a security guard since 1994, but says he has never won any award.
“I carry this title with pride and encourage others to continue doing good because there is always a reward for hard work,” he said.
“Thank you to Nust for this initiative, and thank you to my team and colleagues who voted for me,” he said.
