‘The Snowman’

SNOWFALL means murder in ‘The Snowman’ (2017). A British crime thriller based on the Jo Nesbø novel of the same name.

Following the trail of a serial killer targeting married women in Norway, the film introduces us to Harry Hole, an alcoholic detective receiving taunting notes from the murderer.

Moody in its icy scenes and chilling snowman placed outside the soon-to-be murdered woman’s home, ‘The Snowman’ makes for a gruesome though watchable thriller, but a little too thin on thrill to really champion the genre.

Starring Michael Fassbender as Hole alongside a cast that includes Rebecca Ferguson, JK Simmons, Chloe Sevigny, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Val Kilmer, the film has the chops but not enough meat. Dismembered bodies aside.

See this if you like your thrillers throwaway and only mildly suspenseful.
