There’s no doubt about it – almost everyone loves the thrill of fast cars and the extreme stunts that can be pulled behind the wheel.
Mix that with modern technology, charismatic presenters, obstacles and challenges, and put it on television, what do you have? A recipe for an exciting TV show.
Tonight Namibia can expect the premiere of such a show on NBC 1 at 19h30.
With two well known names in the motoring industry, Carzilla Magazine and NamAuto, bringing their specialties together to create a uniquely Namibian product, ‘The NamAuto Show’ is highly anticipated as it promises to be something entertaining and never seen before locally.
“We combined the efforts of NamAuto and Carzilla and brought different ideas together to bring not only entertainment to the Namibian audience but also infotainment,” director and producer Peter Opali, decorated car stuntman and co-owner of Carzilla, said.
“Basically we want to expose the local motoring industry. What will make this show different is our approach. We have gathered ideas from around the world and deliver car reviews, cover events, feature personalities and their cars, give exposure and of course entertain,” Opali added, saying the show is for audiences of all ages.
Having already established themselves as a formidable online platform in the industry, NamAuto couldn’t pass on the opportunity to invade the television space.
“The NamAuto online platform was established in April 2017 and provides motor related companies in Namibia the opportunity to advertise their products and services online at namauto.com,” NamAuto said.
The NamAuto website is a vehicle enthusiast’s paradise – car dealerships brag with the cars they have on offer, car accessory shops have their variety of products on display, insurance and financial institutions offer quotes and vehicle financing online and you can even get prices on tyres, rims and batteries online with just a few clicks.
NamAuto have created a one-stop shop on their website where individuals can browse through motor related products and services. You can get the perfect car without driving around town.
Perhaps you need step-by-step instructions on how to apply for vehicle financing to get that dream car, or get an insurance quote for your current vehicle at home. NamAuto have got you covered! It’s no wonder they are expanding their territory.
‘The NamAuto Show’ will have its first screening tonight, 7 February at 19h30 on NBC 1 and has already garnered a large following on social media. But one question remains – will it live up to expectations?
General manager of NamAuto, Niël van Vuuren, says the show will highlight Namibian events, including drag racing, spinning and drifting as well as test drives with a variety of vehicles. In-depth interviews with motor related companies and individuals can be expected, as well as loads of other surprises and entertainment which will focus on the motor industry in Namibia.
Interestingly enough, Van Vuuren said they have a ‘NamAuto car’ which will feature in the series and compete in the various events. Viewers are advised to be on the lookout for this vehicle, since there will be weekly competitions where individuals can win prizes when taking a selfie with this vehicle.
He also said the show is 100% Namibian owned adding that the production staff all are Namibian. “Amongst others, we are in partnership with NBC and will air every episode on NBC 1,” Van Vuuren said.
Local celebrities have already been earmarked for interviews with their rides, while we will also receive a weekly dosage of Windhoek Go Karting Entertainment.
Opali mentioned that although the show could bring a fresh aspect to the entertainment and motoring sectors, it was no walk in the park to produce a final product. “One of the biggest challenges were the clients postponing all the time, congested traffic, bad weather and scouting and booking locations,” he said. “All these obstacles made it hard to stick to the time frame, so we had to work extra hard.”
“Namibia can expect something new and never seen before locally,” Opali concluded, adding that that the show aims to go international and cater for a wider audience.
