LIKE many births, that of ‘Fertile’ was not an easy one. Taking to Facebook to complain about labour pains that preceded the birth of her first ‘baby’, Top Cheri stayed in character for her very unique album launch theme.
By Friday afternoon, ‘Fertile’ was finally delivered at the official welcoming party at Chez Ntemba VIP Lounge in the singer’s hometown, Walvis Bay.
The ‘Fertile’ launch was attended not only by some of Top Cheri’s biggest fans and family, but also some of her industry colleagues who made up the exciting line-up.
PDK, ML, Adora, Vikta Juiceboy as well Blvc Boxx stable-mates Athawise and King Elegant are some of the performers who lit up the event.
“I think I chose the line-up very well because all the performers arrived on time and there were no funny issues among them,” said Top Cheri.
By the time Top Cheri herself took to the stage to perform her popular hit songs, the crowd was unable to hide their excitement.
The singer performed some of her popular tracks as well as new offerings from her debut album.
“The feedback on the album has been crazy, especially here in Walvis Bay. We had a stall at the Coastal Fiesta and sold a box of 100 CDs,” she told The Namibian yesterday.
With the CD consignment only arriving on Friday and her whole team at the coast for the launch, Windhoek sales had not yet commenced. The singer however said that all sales will commence this week, and fans can purchase ‘Fertile’ from all Shell service stations and music outlets.
Speaking at the ‘album shower’ that took place a few days before the launch, Top Cheri told journalists that while she may be more popular for her fast-paced songs, the album also contains some sentimental, slow songs such as ‘Running’, which is fast gaining popularity among her fans.
‘Fertile’ has evidently been received well, judging by the attendance of the launch, with people from the coast flocking to the venue.
“I’m extremely happy with how the launch went. We managed to fill up a venue that barely gets full any more,” Top Cheri said.
DJs Roxxy, Chalie 911, Houvas and Waxa held it down on the decks.
Top Cheri also performed at Infinity Lounge at Swakopmund for PDK’s ‘This is A December Party’. She is set to perform at Grootfontein for the first time this Friday, 7 December, and has a road tour with Pushkin coming up this month.
