‘The Big Bang Theory’ Draws to a Close with Season 12

That’s it, folks. After 12 seasons of laughs, ‘The Big Bang Theory’ is coming to an end. Like they say, it’s better to bow out while you’re still at the top.

Created in 2007 by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady along with Steven Molaro, the show introduced the world to the hilarious Sheldon Cooper (played by Jim Parsons) and his friends Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki), Penny (Kaley Cuoco), Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) and Rajesh Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar).

From the science jokes to the unlimited sci-fi and movie references, it was a momentous experience for anyone who grew attached to the many characters that made ‘The Big Bang Theory’ one of the most awarded series on television.

For those not in the know, ‘The Big Bang Theory’ is all about a group of scientists who welcome new faces of the opposite sex into their group, creating love triangles and letting out several skeletons from the closet.

Let’s summarise the relationships we’ve seen, shall we? Leonard and Penny were a perfect match, with the seasons seeing the duo growing closer, but later falling out due to insecurities. And it made everything weird for everyone. Eventually Leonard started a relationship with Raj’s sister, but that didn’t last for long – he fell into Penny’s arms once again and the two became inseparable. With an engagement in the mix and on the way to their wedding in Las Vegas, Leonard revealed his ‘affair’ with another woman. But moving past the infidelities, the two start to adjust to married life.

Concerning Sheldon and Amy, the two met through an internet dating profile with the help of Howard and Raj. Although Sheldon was standoffish at first, he started warming up to Amy and the two went on dates. Sheldon often got jealous about Amy’s interactions with other men such as Barry Kripke, and refused to state this directly, but he proposed that they start dating and since then, the couple have been improving on their intimacy.

But because of jealousy, they broke up, despite still having to work together. And of course, Barry wasn’t making things any easier. The two eventually rekindled their relationship, but this time, someone who is interested in Sheldon wedges her way into the picture.

And then there’s Howard and Bernadette – a couple who only kicked off their spark from season four after a cybersex scandal. But the two got married first and adjusted as a married couple, even though Howard’s mother often got in their way. However, after Mrs Wolowitz dies, the couple live together in her old house, and soon, a baby comes into a picture.

So here’s to season 12, the last of ‘The Big Bang Theory’.
