The all-purpose delivery vehicle

• FRANCOIS LOTTERING

THERE is hardly a business in Namibia that does not, one way or the other, use a delivery van.

JAC Motors in Windhoek caters for more than 4×4 vehicles, it even provides a variety of trucks to suit the needs of clients.

Regardless of your business, JAC's range, from single cab to double light delivery vans, will suit your needs when it comes to small and medium enterprise businesses.

JAC Motors sales manager Elmo van der Byl told Top Revs that the JAC commercial vehicles range caters for a large spectrum in the courier/haulage business.

The JAC range consists of the X200 and N56/90 series, ranging from 1,3 to six-tonne trucks, Van der Byl said.

According to Van der Byl, the different specs between the “X” and the “N” series define the engine capacity, the load capacity – even if it is single or double cab.

The “X-200” series is ideally for the smaller businessman and comes in either a 1,3 tonne or 1,5 tonne. The vehicles also come as single or double cab where extra manpower is needed for the job.

When it comes to the powertrains for the vehicles, Van der Byl said the two X models are both fitted with the 2,8 JAC diesel engines.

Only the bigger N-series models are fitted with the 2,8 and 3,8 TDi diesel Cummins engines.

“We all know the Cummins diesel machines have a good track record over the years and it comes in brands like the Freightliner and International trucks.” Van der Byl narrated.

Going bigger, JAC also has a six-tonne truck fitted with a hefty 3,6 Cummins engine with enough haulage power, he added.

“Though the competitors in our market also supply more or less the same engine and load capacities like we do, our load bins differ by means of length and drop sides for easier loading. All our load bins come standard with easy to operate drop sides for easy handling of heavier loads.”

There are places in Windhoek and elsewhere in Namibia that can convert the load boxes in cooler trucks and cattle boxes to protect any perishables or fragile loads, Van der Byl added.

“We provide the trucks basic and any customer-required changes needed are at the expense of the client,” he added.

When it comes to the interior of the vehicles, all come with an airconditioner, airbags, and a bluetooth adaptive radio. To make entry easier, the vehicle is fitted with side steps for safer passenger and driver's access.

“Stock holding is not an issue,” Van der Byl said, “and should clients need what we do not have on the floor, we can deliver that within two weeks ex-South Africa.”

The single cab can seat three, as all seats are equipped with safety belts, while the double cab truck can seat four passengers and the driver.

JAC dates as far back as 1964 and with almost 60 years' experience, it operates in more than 130 countries and offers competitive value for money.

JAC does not only provide after-sales service and warranties, as all JAC vehicles come with a five-year/150 000km manufacturers' warranty, but also assist potential clients with in-house financing service.
