That’s My Best Friend

Some people find best friends at a young age. Others when they’re in high school or even later.

Regardless, best friends are there to turn your world around in the best way – a literal partner in crime, if you can describe them best. They comfort you when you are crying, accompany you on crazy escapades and provide the best kind of medicine around – laughter.

The Weekender’s readers told us what they loved the most about their best friends.

Lauren Ndapandula only had good things to say about her best friend, including a good ol’ shout out.

“I love the fact that she is very obedient and God-fearing. Lahja Ndeutapo, you are the best.”

Esmereelda Pamaseda also shared her experience with her best friend. “We have great memories,” she said. “She’s just understanding.”

For many, best friends tower above other friends, even just a little. You are almost always with them and if you ever need to complain, they will be there to lend an ear. Also, they know you better than you know yourself, at times. “What I love about my best friend is that she knows everything about me, yet she remains my best friend,” Fernandu Chimuco mentioned.

Indeed, some people have best friends who are of the opposite sex, which is actually becoming a common thing these days. Many may find it surprising, but it simply is what it is.

Sadly, not everyone is down with a best friend right now.

When asked what he loved about his best friend, Tuhafeni Nghitila Moses had this to say: “The fact that he is imaginary…”

Although some best friends fight with each other and go on a ‘not speaking’ break forever, Debora Adora felt that the connection she has with her best friend is much stronger than that.

“What I love about my best friend is that she is forgiving. There are no bad experiences between us.”

Selma Handobe said she has had too many years with her best friend to even think about leaving. “What I love most about my best friend of six years is that she makes my problem hers. She was by my side when my world was crumbling. We have been through so much together. We tell each other stories over and over but they are still funny and I am trying to take in the fact that we’ve never argued!”

Relationships as strong as that may be hard to come by, but they do exist.

“My best friend always asks to see how I am doing, which means he cares so much,” Fabien Sancheranoz shared.

“He is my second brother and he has been there for me in good and bad times.”

Christa Hange had so much to list about her best friend. “I love that she is helpful, confident, courageous, gentle, humble, kind and patient. She is not easily influenced (she stands tall and for what’s right) and she’s loving, faithful and keeps her word.”

That wasn’t all. “She is generous and the type of lady that has self-control. She has a servant heart, perseverant and persistent.” Christa also mentioned that her best friend is forgiving and doesn’t smoke or drink either.

With all these things mentioned about a best friend, it shows how sometimes we need that friend who we can just be crazy around, without any explanations.

And that’s what a best friend should be.
