Swapo promises development in Hainyeko

Swapo promises development in Hainyeko

SWAPO says it plans to build a hospital, clinic, secondary school and a youth centre in the Tobias Hainyeko constituency of Katutura.

Addressing a rally on Saturday, Secretary General Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana also promised that the party will increase safety and security in the area by means of night patrols in riverbeds and at shebeens. She promised to send a mobile identity documentation unit to the area for the elders. She also promised Polytechnic and Unam students living in the area buses for daily transportation to class.Ithana said plans for the secondary school were already at an advanced stage, as the land had been allocated.”We are a party at work,” she said, adding that some people from the area had already been moved to a new low-cost housing project behind Otjomuise. The Swapo “iron lady”, as master of ceremonies Gerson Kamatuka called her, said the Swapo Party Government also planned to roll out more HIV-AIDS counselling and testing centres in the area while start-up capital will also be provided for youth empowerment projects.”A clinic and a future hospital shall be the key items for the new councillor of the constituency,” Ithana said. She appealed to residents of the Tobias Hainyeko constituency to renew their trust in the party by voting for Swapo war veteran Zulu Shitongeni during next week’s by-election.”He is a trusted cadre with absolute zeal.He shall never waver where others wavered right in front of you.Have no doubt that he will abandon you like others,” she said. The by-election was called after Swapo Party “excommunicated” former councillor Erasmus ‘Kaptein’ Hendjala for “serious misconduct and violation of the Swapo constitution”.A month later, Hendjala joined the RDP and was immediately confirmed as their candidate for the by-election.The other candidates are Clara //Gowases (Republican Party), Sevelinus Markus (APP) and Obrine Liwela (Nudo). The DTA of Namibia, Congress of Democrats and the United Democratic Front did not field candidates. The Tobias Hainyeko constituency was created from the eastern portion of Hakahana constituency by the Delimitation Commission in 2003.The western portion was renamed Moses //Garoëb constituency.
