It is an epic time in the music career of lyricist, actor, artist and entrepreneur Sunday Shipushu, known as Sunny Boy. He recently released a triple piano treat for his fans.
His new singles are ‘When I Need You’ featuring Ann Singer, ‘Ngoso’ featuring King Elegant and ‘O’sponga’ featuring Zen.
Sunny Boy says he felt it was time for him to make noise again. He released his last album just before the Covid-19 pandemic.
“It’s time for new music from me again. My fans have been demanding; they are bored and want something fresh. My new album, ‘Kingdom of Yaziza’, was supposed to be released already, but the computer got damaged and about three years of work was lost. We had to redo everything,” he says
With his new songs, the artist says he wanted to spoil his fans three times.
“It’s time for the get three for N$50 marketing strategy, and I felt I could also use it for my music. I also released three songs at once because I currently have so many songs and the amapiano genre evolves. So what is in today might not be in tomorrow,” he says.
Sunny Boy says he decided to venture into the genre because he did not want to be left out. He says the genre is currently dominating the music market.
“The crowd demands this type of music and I have to make sure that bread is on the table. Amapiano is basically kwaito that has rebranded and as a kwaito artist myself it felt right to bring out amapiano music,” he says.
Sunny Boy says his new songs are summer songs and do not contain messages about social evils. He says as the king of summer music, he thought it important to release fun songs.
“Namibians are known for having fun, especially during summer. My new music is all about having fun. These songs are for the people to just dance and have a great time,” he says.
The songs have been available on YouTube since last week.
Sunny Boy says he decided to first have new music on YouTube because of his marketing plan.
“Me and my team felt that it was a great way to bring traffic and attention to my YouTube channel. My YouTube has been quiet because I’ve not released anything new in a long time. About two weeks from now, fans can get the songs on various social media platforms as well,” he says.
Speaking about some of his upcoming projects, Sunny Boy says the public can expect his new album by November, and also some summer wear.
“With the summer wear, we are currently busy with printing and a new design. We can’t wait to introduce it to the public,” Sunny Boy said.
