JAMES JAMUOshana native Sunny Boy is no stranger to orchestrating a collaborative banger.
His versatility cannot be understated and on Monday, a gem which sets the tone for the year ahead, was unveiled.
‘Madalama’ is a joint effort between Sunny Boy, Glo, DJ Ambizzy, with back-up vocals by Jojo and LJ. The track has the recipe for a club banger as the infusion of hypnotic 808s, bass-drums and simplistic piano melodies blend effortlessly to get people moving along to the rhythm and bass.
Although he is highly regarded for his complex rapping technique, Sunny Boy takes you on a lighter journey where he paves the way for the artists involved to show off their individual magnetism.
Sunny Boy (36), talked with great fervour about starting the year off on a positive note.
“I wanted to make something impactful by producing a song that prompts people to be jovial and carefree,” said Sunny Boy, who cites his fans and their happiness as his biggest inspiration this year.
He says he has already begun the first phase of shooting the music video in Okahandja.
Born Sunday Shipushu at Oshakati, Sunny Boy is regarded as a living legend for being a pioneer in popularising hikwa in Namibia. Hikwa is a fusion of hip-hop and kwaito which rose to fame in 2004, with the hit track ‘Koko’ on which Sunny Boy was featured by Gazza before signing with The Dogg’s Mshasho label.
