* OUR leaders should pay a visit to Botswana and ask what strategy they used to fight unemployment. Imagine from 33 per cent to below 17 per cent.

Food For Thought* IS there a possibility that the leaders of the country and all heads of organisations, owners of businesses and employees’ salaries are decreased in order to prevent possible retrenchments and in so doing helping each other? Bouquets And Brickbats* WELL done Nabta for making legal taxis visible. We passengers feel safer now and urge Namibians to feel proud of such an initiative. Law enforcement must weed out all bakkies and pirate taxis that are doing illegal transportation and placing our lives in danger.- A Windhoek resident.* THANKS to The Namibian newspaper I found my ID. Well done The Namibian newspaper.* I WOULD like to express my gratitude and appreciation to NESE TEAM 6 which visited our school recently. Team members were really professional and gave us what we expected. We were genuinely helped and I hope that all teams do the same. I was particularly happy with the team leader Mr Nangolo Filemon. He is very professional and humble towards his colleagues and us the staff. Keep up good work.* THE Namibian, thank you for the very nice goodie bags!- Cyclist- We extend your thanks to all the sponsors who provided the contents. – Newsdesk* JUDGE Pius Langa, during the commemoration of ‘Black Wednesday’ by South African media, commended that media for talking them out of apartheid. I couldn’t agree more. The Namibian, in my opinion, also contributed towards our Independence. It’s a fact we cannot wish away, hence the need for an urgent lifting of the GRN ban on The Namibian and to stop the senseless attacks on its editor. * THANKS Ms Cornelia Shalimba for a job well done in Olukonda Constituency. What you did is great! Keep it up! We salute you ECN for giving us a star. I salute you meme Shalimba.* THE news at 08h00 is just about Swapo, why? Mr Matthew Gowaseb is biased. You can’t tell us that other political parties are not campaigning? – M* DEAR Gwen, I just read your column on the Pendukeni speech and it brought tears to my eyes. You don’t deserve this. I say Go Girl.* I WANT to thank Gwen for her class and decency in this matter, and for allowing Namibians to have their say. And as for Pendukeni (Ithana), most Namibians have moved on. So should you. Start focusing on the homeless children in the streets of Windhoek and put an end to these ramblings of hate. * ONE can clearly see our leaders hate the nation, how else can they continue with hate speeches for almost 20 years. It’s clear that their mentalities lack serious development.* MR Gowaseb (NBC) has pledged to be fair in allocating time slots to political parties but since Saturday only Swapo has been prominent on the screen. Will it change and when? We need broad information to make correct choices?Keep it clean* THE Winna Mariba marshmallow competition is unhygienic. How can two people try and catch the same marshmallow with the mouth? After one person fails, the next person continues. The NamibianJUST asking. Is it true that there is racism taking place at The Namibian?* GWEN are you tolerant of criticism? And is it only your paper that’s entitled to criticise? If you are about human rights does it mean only yours and RDP’s that matter, and not Swapo leaders’? Surely you don’t deserve to be called a Namibian. – Mike* THE Namibian newspaper management should publish salaries of white and black staff in the interests of transparency. How much is Jonathan Cobra paid as a freelancer compared to black freelancers? If we are told about the package of Tobie Aupindi why are we not told about the salary of Frans Kapofi? If there is a difference in pay structures of white and black staff, is that not racism?- We are satisfied that there is no racism in our salary structures. Freelancers are paid at agreed-upon rates. The fact that I have been on the receiving end of attack and criticism for over three decades, from the apartheid era to date, would seem to suggest that I am able to take it! – Gwen ListerElection Fever* HONOURABLE Minister Nghidinwa, when are they going to start with ID mobile registration in the west of Kavango. * IT is becoming increasingly clear the ECN is indeed not the impartial and transparent body it is making itself out to be. Too many ‘oversights’ and ‘errors’, people. We as the voters are again being led by the noses by a Swapo-controlled body posing as ‘impartial’. Is there anybody out there who still cannot see this? Remember people, if we don’t get this right now, it will be too late to whine and bitch after the elections! It must be addressed now and the ECN replaced by an independent body before its too late – again.- TheoPolitics* MR [Elijah] Ngurare [SPYL]! You have always been advocating for youth in Namibia. We want to know your stance on the scholarships issue. Show us that you truly care for the youth. * MADAM Secretary General please stop your anger. The liberation struggle ended 19 years ago. We want to get on with our lives in a peaceful, non-racial Namibia. – Tobias* THE Hon Pendukeni Ithana should not make her personal problem with Gwen Lister a national issue. Her problem with Lister constitutes pure racism. Lister chose not to be a puppet of anyone and Swapo leaders are no exception. * HON Itana please refrain from addressing rallies if you have nothing else to say to your people. – Endola* TO the Swapo Secretary General: Please do not use political platforms to incite hate speech. It is not constructive and healthy for any leader of your calibre. You have a legal background to take up the matter to court. Besides you are the Attorney General. Have you not learnt anything about the consequences of war? War destroys lives and lives are the precious gift of God! Madam Ithana please act professionally and responsibly. Gwen you are equally contributing to the well-being of our nation. Please, keep telling it like it is!* YAKWETU, meme Pendukeni, please think. If Gwen Lister runs away when it gets ‘hot’, she would have done so more than 20 years ago in the heat of apartheid, when The Namibian newspaper was bombed and all kinds of atrocities committed against its staff members. Please stop your hate speeches and stop being so vague. List your ‘provocations’. What exactly did Gwen Lister say that is wrong? Plus I wonder how white people feel who are in your party?- Washamba.* REALLY now Mrs Ithana your speeches are becoming boring … yaaawwn.* I AM tired of hate speeches and empty promises from our political parties! Swapo leaders did you forget that elections are next month? Have you forgotten how to campaign?- Proud Namibian* OMBUDSMAN John Walters. Now, in our democracy’s darkest hour, it’s time for you to act! Scholarships for the connected, hate speech and threats by the Justice Minister. Sir, we trust you to be our voice.- ASSScholarships* WITH reference to the revelations by PS Vitalis Ankama concerning the Chinese scholarships, I’d like to know why all of the beneficiaries are still with the Public Service Commission. It’s now three months! How long does the PSC takes to approve appointments? – Concerned intervieweeR.I.P.* FOR Rev Hendrik Witbooi, like David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep. Acts 13 v 36. I salute you our servant and teacher. – Rev A Kheibeb* FATHER Witbooi I even drank from !Goregura-abes although being a /Hai/khaua. You embraced me and others on that terrible night of April 19 1989 when 85 learners were expelled from llOaseb SS in rain. Rest in peace servant of the Master.- Mr Jeremias Goeieman (//Khuta!hoas)* THE late Rev Witbooi will be accorded a State funeral on Sunday. Can His Excellency The President declare Friday or Monday a public holiday to allow the sons and daughters living in all corners of Namibia to travel to Gibeon to pay their last respects to the great son of the soil.City Fathers,Please …* ALL our water features in Windhoek end up dirty and polluted. So please City of Windhoek, replace our fish pond in Zoo Park with a nice rock garden or some trees. This will set a good example for saving water. In And From The Regions* ONGWEDIVA Town Council or whoever please do something about the last bridge. We drove over when coming from Ondangwa. The bridge is not stable at all. It’s just a disaster waiting to happen.- Driver* TO the council and the Police of Ondangwa, can you please go to Ongushu scrapyard and see what is going on. Our kids are not going to school anymore.- Concerned members of Ondangwa* DEAR Swakopmund Municipality, do something about the electricity pool especially in Kovambo Nuyoma Street.* REFERRING to the reader who does not agree with my message regarding speed bumps. We at Onalunike think it’s necessary because we have lost many lives at the same spot. We are still mourning our kids and for your information this is an old village which is divided by the main road and not a settlement as you claim and our learners cross that road daily when going to school. Please Roads Authority please hear our cry and put the 60 km\h sign like at Okapuku, Oshifukwa, Onankali etc. Thanks!- Sensenina* USAKOS Town Council is in chaos. Power struggles between councillors are rife, the roads have potholes, there are no roads in Hakhaseb, cemeteries are full of snakes and very dirty, streets in Hakhaseb are littered with broken beer bottles.* OUTJO Municipality, get your act together. The offices that were burnt down brought about chaos in the billing system as all records were destroyed. You are now demanding backdated payments for services that were paid for. Half of Outjo residents are suddenly owing you including those who are paid up. Don’t make poor people pay. Get your administration, which was already in a mess, right.Health Matters* THANKS to The Namibian newsdesk for publishing my SMS on Chinese Super Slim Capsules. And on the response from my sister. I agree with the newsdesk. Please go on line and read the warnings, please. * FELLOW Namibians, the recent Chinese Super Slim capsule scare seems to be premature at this stage. I was telephonically informed by the Chinese Natural Herb and Health Clinic based at the Wernhil Centre in Windhoek, that the capsules in question are in fact being distributed in the UK under the spin-off name of ‘Super Slim, and it is these capsules that contain the banned drug, Phenolphthalein. The capsules that the said clinic distributes in Windhoek are called: ‘Super Slim-Green Lean Body Capsules’, and are apparently the legitimate pharmaceutical name under which they are distributed in Namibia. They seemingly therefore, bare no link to the spin-off Super Slim’ capsules being distributed in the UK. Nevertheless, as I was informed by the Chinese Natural Herb and Health Clinic, the matter has been noted and will be formally addressed in due course. In the meantime, let’s not forget that we are all responsible for our health and should habitually conduct as much research as possible to ensure well-informed decisions. Furthermore, many thanks to the reader who raised the initial alarm bells in the Friday 15 October Namibian edition. However, let’s not panic, but remain vigilant until such time that we have verified information from the Chinese Natural Herb and Health Clinic and one or other health/pharmaceutical regulating body in Namibia. Thank you.- Vigilantly Optimistic! General* GLOBAL recession a welcome relief? Instead of using the global recession as a welcome excuse to cover up the billions lost in irresponsible loans to a select few, let Hartmut Ruppel and his team account to the penny what percentage of the N$5 billion was lost due to the reckless lending of public servants’ hard earned savings to the well connected and the actual loss caused by the alleged global recession. Practise accountability and transparency!- August Maletzky* IF the Government is serious about Rural Development, it must put the right people in the right places. The Monday Talk of the Nation on NBC-TV is a case in point.* THE municipal buses are always overloaded. I don’t know how the inspectors count passengers. A disaster is going to strike one these days.- Koos* THE Nigerian 419 scam has now been Namibianised for real. These crooks/conmen are either faxing or e-mailing. Today I received an email from one ‘Hilma Nangombe’, with same SMS appeal for help. Just ignore them. – Afrikan comradeEducation* THE MoE must make sure that things are done correctly. Some school principals don’t even have a clue about completing a SDP or TSE. Especially in Ondobe circuit.A sad reality* WAKE up Namibia. How many innocent learners are being impregnated by other Government employees? Why are only teachers punished? Every public servant should be punished. As a teacher it breaks my heart to inform Namibia that 27 learners got impregnated and 17 of these by Police officers. Nangolo (Mbumba) view things from all perspectives. Punish all and save these kids. Lost And Found* LOST ID, Edgars. Legal Aid card in Walvis Bay. Johanne Ede Joey Sacheus.* I PICKED up a driving licence for Mr Mr SE Gawaseb. It’s on a car key holder. Call this number 081-412-5757. The Rock!* I’M Paulus Immanuel V, I lost my wallet with ID, Smart card and wedding cards. Please contact me on:081-317-6171 if found.* I LOST car keys (Toyota) in a taxi from Pionierspark Ext 1 to Unam. If found please SMS to 081-257-1332.- CarolineService Please* NAMPOST, your service is shocking! A package was sent to me from the UK on July 13. I only got the post office notification to collect it yesterday, almost three months later. When I turned up at the post office to fetch the package I was told that they had sent it back to England because no one had claimed it. * I TOOK a taxi ride at 23h40. When I reached my destination I gave the driver N$7,50. My house is on the main road. No, he said, it’s now N$15 because the time was now after midnight. We argued but I ended up paying N$15. Does the time you get in and out count? Nabta, what’s happening please?Sporting* CAN NBC show us the game between Ghana and Brazil Under 20 this coming weekend? I hope all soccer lovers will watch. Please NBC?
