* RACISM was painful during the apartheid era, but we found consolation and strength in the fact that we blacks were fighting a common enemy and would prevail one day. Ethnicity today is far worse and my heart bleeds. From bursaries to regional development it is so obvious that our own brothers discriminate unashamedly. Someone will answer to the Almighty one day. God have mercy!
Food for Thought* CHURCHES have greatly failed in their mandate of spreading love and peace in our country. Some reasons for their failure are based on their membership composition. Another reason is their history with the ruling party. I am shocked by their lack of reaction to the hate speech, corruption and the recent reported grabbing of scholarships even by our very own President. I know that some churches have political leaders in the structures. This really influences what is preached in most of our churches. Some churches are only interested in money from the poor. Preach about love and tolerance from the pulpit, what are you afraid of? Bouquets and Brickbats* THUMBS up for Madam Pendukeni Ithana. This time around she has said something that makes sense at Omuthiya when she warned older men to stop impregnating schoolgirls. She deserves credit and I give it to her.* TODAY (Thursday, Youth) Minister K (Willem) Konjore, Governor Kashuupulwa went to address the Swapo kids in Kandjengedi. Having been a witness to this as a Swapo kid myself, I was shocked and disappointed by their unruly behaviour. I wonder where those kids expect to be employed. It’s so sad and I feel sorry for the Government to have to put up with such problems, those kids are a problem.* MR M Katjiuongua you don’t know how much I wished you to be our leader so you can defend us from selfish and heartless people. What you say is heard even by them.* THE SMS platform in The Namibian newspaper has done a commendable job in many spheres. It’s because of this platform many people have found their lost documents. Thanks to you guys.- Stam* FROM the sidelines: Lacklustre match causes eyesore viewing? Editor check this title paragraph by Corry Ihuhua please!Story of the Struggle* I WANT the programme of the struggle for liberation Part 1 to be repeated please! – H Peneyambeko* I’M glad the taxpayers can finally see the movie they paid for and right in time for the elections! * WAS the liberation struggle so worthless to be screenless on NBC? The dark screen was all we could see, after giving up our evening’s plans? Just wondering what the Founding Father has to say about this? What a shame.* Colleagues in Windhoek said there was no problem with the programme. Perhaps a technical issue elsewhere. – NewsdeskElection Fever* ON Friday The Namibian omitted polling officials’ names for Aminuis constituency. Why?* The material was supplied by the ECN. We trust they will look into it. – Newsdesk* ECN, is it justifiable to use youth who are under voting age to be election officials? Why do you not consider those over 25 years of age, who meet the requirements and have been without any income after Grade 10 or 12? Please ECN remove those 17 years and younger from the list!Politics* NAMIBIANS please I beg you, let us not be tribalistic in politics. None of your body parts are useless. All are yours. Be transparent.- Betto* I AM just a concerned citizen, who would like to talk about the so-called door-to-door campaigning which has caused a stir among the ruling party. The process may be new in our political system but there is nothing wrong with it compared to what the new churches use when they canvass for members amidst the already established churches. Therefore, to claim that the campaign is causing confusion and conflict in the country is nothing but a ploy to deprive the people from getting an alternative political message. No-go areas and provocation are not the way to go and only discipline is needed for the people to listen and make a decisive choice. – Michael- Windhoek. General* TO the person who suggested yesterday that Government workers should knock off on Fridays at 13h00, consider that the salary would then have to be paid for four and a half working days per week. Less money in their pockets.- TutaleniAnother attack in Pakistan* NAMIBIA’S, Africa’s and the world’s news providers should be careful not to promote reverse discrimination. This time I’m concerned about people dying in horrendous murderous acts taking place in Iraq, India and Pakistan. Terrorists are killing the innocent women, men and children alike through shootings and suicide bombings, but the news providers seem to be concerned only with the killing and maiming of women and children, and not men. My understanding was that women’s and children’s concerns were highlighted more in wars where it was regarded that most men were participants as soldiers in those wars, and hence, their deaths were expected. Where am I missing the point here? I seriously need to understand this.* LA DEE DAS should start requesting IDs at the door, as it was jam-packed with pupils this weekend and every other weekend since it reopened.Taxi Talk* HELLO Namibians! I’m worried about the taxis which are still not registered under the new rules. We must stop jumping into those taxis that are not registered. It’s not safe at all, guys!Road Safety* CAN the drivers in Namibia please make use of their indicators when turning, changing lanes etc, in the interest of road safety. Please. City Fathers Please…* COULD the Health Inspector of the Municipality of Windhoek please inspect the shopping trolleys at Checkers in Maerua Mall? The hygiene is poor.* CITY of Windhoek, your service delivery is pathetic. No water in Dorado Park, no apology!* CAN the Municipality of Windhoek do something about renting. Please we know accommodation is very scarce in Windhoek but this is too much. There are landlords that are allowing people to rent in their houses and also in kitchens where others pass through to their rooms. Is it legal? Please the municipality should take action on this and I would appreciate an answer to this.- S FHealth Matters* ‘I KNOW what I’m doing’. What a deadly assurance this turned out to be for a three-year-old boy after being administered the wrong medication by a student nurse. As much as I’m mourning with the bereaved, I sympathise with this young student as well. As much as you know what you are doing we, as the patients, have the right to know what you are doing to us. Sporting* ONE Africa television we want soccer.* THE coach of the Brave Warriors must just pack and go in peace, he can’t insult our coaches like that. He’s not worth coaching a national team if he starts talking about coaches like this. Then next it will be the NFA. His main interest is the loot put on the table by NFA, nothing else. NBC* NBC National Radio please! We need BBC News (Sport) every Saturday and Sunday from 16h00 to 18h00. Bring it back. It entertained us a lot.- Simon K, Ongulumbashe* IS it constitutionally correct that people are denied the right to talk about their annual customary cultural festival of almost 33 years on Radio Damara-Nama? NBC is preventing King //Garoëb from speaking on Radio Damara-Nama. This is tantamount to oppression in free Namibia. * CAN NBC please bring back the Uefa champions league. We really enjoy soccer, at least one game. We will be thankful. In and From the Regions* ALLOW me to appreciate the effort by the Government to construct a road linking Onkani to Oshakati via Omapopo-Ekamba. For people travelling to Uuvudhiya and Onkani, it was really tough for them to get where they wanted. This road, once completed hopefully by next year 2010, will help many cattle herders in the Uuvudhiya and part of Otamanzi constituencies to reach their cattle posts with ease. There is one concern though; the contractors are using clay in constructing this road, which is very dangerous during the rainy season. The other serious thing is that they have dug trenches, two metres wide and three metres deep, a few centimetres away from the road. Now with the clay surface combined with the trenches along the road, one foresees ugly accidents. Councillor Ndahafa please see to the project.* TO the regional office. Here at Otjikondavirongo we are struggling with roads. People do not want to go there because there are no proper roads.- Carloz Mburura U * MINISTER Kaapanda, the people of Schlip are not stupid. Why hasn’t the Government solved the water crisis in the past five years of ruling? This problem started when you were still Minister of Local Government.* HELLO Namibia, I have a problem in the communal areas. There are farmers that must be supported to move out from these areas. They have too many livestock and this causes damage to the land. Soil erosion is also common, and a shortage of water is also experienced. Please help.- Vincentius Adams
