SMSes of the Day : Wednesday

SMSes of the Day : Wednesday

* I AM very concerned about transparency in rural development. I want to know why each constituency Councillor doesn’t call a meeting of the voters annually after the National Budget has been approved? Why are our leaders not accessible during their tenure of office about challenges and successes. But, when elections come, we are convened under the nearest tree. Even the Speaker of Parliament has stopped his community outreach programmes.

* VIVA traditional leaders for your call to do away with NamWater’s rural water supply. Now we want to hear from our national leaders in Parliament! Who initiated the law barring traditional leaders from politics? Latest anti-NamWater sentiments by traditional leaders need mass-based support. Councillor Claassen, the poor Nama people at Schlip are being threatened that their hand-pump borehole will be demolished in favour of a new NamWater system! * I PAY a cleaner N$2 000 a month and when he was caught stealing cash he said he was underpaid for the 24-hour week he has to work. He was retained in his job, but is upset at the fact that the warning letter he received has no expiry date. How many people would like his job I wonder?Food for thought* THE education code of conduct for teachers clearly says if a teacher impregnates a school girl he must leave the teaching profession. Why are some teachers who impregnated school girls still employed and getting their full salaries? Are some teachers paying the poor parents some cash to keep their mouths glued? Or do principals favour some teachers? Mr Kafindi go to Ogongo circuit schools now or tell me to call the ACC. – Angry parent.* AWKWARD! A three-year tertiary teaching qualification is required to lecture at Colleges of Education. But the same qualification is NOT sufficient for high school teaching. Could NQA investigate this anomaly? – AlexPolitics in general* IT’S unfortunate to see how Ngurare fits in the category of ‘running dogs’. As smart, highly educated as he is, one would not expect him to be a political opportunist-stooge of those behind the scenes. He has the qualities of a dynamic leader but he runs the risk of being judged as a ‘running dog’. Ngurare, there is nothing like ‘guided democracy’ and enforcing a leadership without following the due election process when the Party Constitution doesn’t provide for such exemptions. The best thing to do is campaign for your preferred candidates.* I AM in favour of the Damara Gaob Festival taking place. It is the only platform where Damaras can come together. We are bringing confusion among the Damaras, because everyone wants to become the King in order to get the N$1 000 monthly payment. Let us forget about the politics and unite as Damaras irrespective of our sub groups.Condolences* LUCKY Dube you were like the messiah and indeed you are. You preached the same message but most people did not understand the message. They gunned you down but that was too late, the message had been spread and received. Long Live reggae music. – Eenhana* TRIBUTE to a great icon Lucky Dube and his children. We still remember 1989 at Katutura Arena when the king of reggae came to Namibia for the first time. I still remember your performance vividly. Your legacy will live on. Remember us where ever you are. Namibians love you and rest in peace Lucky. – Lesley Meyer* I AM sorry South Africa for the death of the reggae star, Lucky Dube. He was my hero and may his soul rest in peace, till we meet in heaven. – Sam Hamunyela* OH! I was shocked to death hearing about Lucky Dube. He gave us so much and we are proud of it. South Africa take action, be strong and use the power of the law to apprehend and punish those criminals. May the Almighty God bless him. Rest in eternal peace. – Veino K Hapulile* COMRADE Lucky Dube we will always remember you as a freedom fighter your message during apartheid SA against racist domination and discrimination against the black majority had inspired many people. Rest in peace. – Comrade Kamati* I’M a Dube fanatic, expressing my shock and disbelief at the untimely death of a music icon, Lucky Dube. The world will never be the same without him. I had a chance of attending one of his shows once a few years ago and it feels like yesterday. He will be sadly missed by many. RIP. – Kesha MN* LUCKY Dube spoke against cruelty other people inflict on innocent lives of others. Dube inspired me. I’m quite optimistic that Lucky Dube’s music will sell more than when he was around us. May your soul rest in peace. – Brasim* JAH guide! Respect the rasta man, because he’s the only one left in Jah creation. Rest in peace dear brother. You are a slave just a liquor slave. You have lost your dignity, as you tried to please everybody. I salute you! – Simon Uusiku Well done!* THERE are changes at Katutura and Windhoek Central Hospital with regard to cleaning of the environment. Nobody seems to have noticed this. Keep it up, you are doing well.General* WE want the President to save the nation from the drought of water. Why is the Ministry responsible for rural water supply and development killing us with the high price charged for water. Please Government, dig us more boreholes to save our animals from perishing.* I WENT to the Robert Mugabe clinic last week and there was a notice saying that the clinic will be closed for one week for renovations. But when I enquired this week I was told that the renovations are not finished because there is no money to buy the materials. Now how does one start a project if you don’t have money? Minister Kamwi please answer the nation.* WINDHOEK Municipality, when are we going to get tarred roads and electricity at this informal settlement of Okahandja Park. We have been staying here for the past 13 years – Mashina* WHAT is going on at the NBC? The news on Monday was read at 08h15 without any excuse or do they have their own GMT time. Mr Kandetu improve or resign. – SliceFrom the regions* I AM from the rural community and want to throw my support behind our King for standing up for his people. I ask all the traditional leaders to support him on his proposal concerning the supply of water to rural communities. I think our leaders must know that water is life and we the poor cannot afford this basic commodity. Viva our King, go on, we support you. – AK Iipinge, Okaku* WHY do Kashindi and Shidolo of the Omusati Regional Council advertise vacant positions? Is it for the fun of it or because there are real vacancies? I am worried because you are advertising vacancies for artisans, clerks and private secretaries every now and then and when we apply we don’t hear from you. Even an acknowledgement will do. Is it true you get the right candidates for the job or what? We VTC graduates are suffering! – Concerned artisan* JUST a question – is freedom only in the northern part of the country? We are driving from Windhoek to Otjinene on a gravel road and in heavy rains. Please, we are all Namibians.* HONOURABLE Kaapanda when is your ministry going to upgrade the killer gravel roads from Engela to Okalongo, Omungwelume to Oshakati? The road is too dusty and slippery when it rains. Please we are tired of this. – Nduuli* I AM very happy for the good service provided by the Okahao Police officers. They try very hard to stop stock theft in the Ongandjera area. But the problem is the Magistrate, who releases the suspects on bail. The Magistrate in question gave one stock theft suspect bail on four occasions. This should change. – Ndalila* COUNCILLOR Penda ya Ndakolo when are we going to get water for the areas from Omuthiya to Cham Cham up to King Kauluma? We think you must tell the community the truth because we are now totally confused by the empty promises we always get during elections.* COUNCILLOR for Oranjemund can you tell the people of your town what development you have initiated in Oranjemund? what about having people suffering and not having a roof over their heads. Stay away from Namdeb parties and your work as other councillors. – Mimi, Oranjemund* TO the honourable councillor of the Uuvudhiya Constituency: We thank you very much that you are developing the area. But we don’t have a communication network and need your assistance in this regard. Old people can’t climb trees and buildings searching for the network. Take a good example from Okau, Otamanzi and Onaanda constituencies. What about us. – Dinelago* MINISTRY of Finance and finance officials, what are you doing? We want our payslips for the month on time in the Oshana Region. Please do your job properly. – School Secretaries in Oshana. On the ball* A MESSAGE to all Springbok supporters – you were indeed very excited when the All Blacks were eliminated from the World Cup. But, remember the Tri Nations is just around the corner. The Boks will again be beaten. Despite the loss of the All Blacks at the World Cup, they are the number one rugby team in the world. Sorry Bokke, long live the Men in Black. (But they’re NOT the World Champions, the Springboks are! – News Editor)* CAN our management of Chief Santos FC not organise an AGM before the league starts. We as players and supporters have problems with the coach, a serious problem.Thank you* I WOULD like to thank SABA for inviting Dr Joe Diescho and other professionals to be part of the on going SABA conference. SABA have taken the right step compared to some institutions that ignore Dr Diescho’s lectures. We need your contribution as a citizen of our motherland. – Makoka K* THANKS to The Namibian for giving the public a chance to raise their concerns since we are living in a democratic country.
