* MEMBERS of Parliament are always saying the GRN should come up with a strategy on how to create job opportunities.

* MEMBERS of Parliament are always saying the GRN should come up with a strategy on how to create job opportunities. As an unemployed Unam graduate I would like to know who is the GRN? What if every MP comes up with a proposal on how we can reduce the unemployment rate in Namibia? Will it not help?* CONCERNING war vets who lost body parts during the war, do we receive the same amount as able-bodied veterans?Food For Thought* TO help bring inflation down, reduce the pay-off period of the housing loan from 20 years to five to 10 years! That way you’ll help the country economics wise! * THE Gabon president since 1967, failed to build a clinic in his own country. Now he is in a Spanish clinic: African leaders it’s time to wake up.Bouquets And Brickbats* I WOULD like to thank all those kind Samaritans that assisted at the accident scene on Friday 15 km from Karibib. I would also like to thank the doctor, nurses and emergency personnel of Okahandja who went out way beyond the call of duty. To the doctors, nurses and x-ray staff of Katutura Hospital thank you, you guys were there for everyone even though it was 03h00. God Bless all of you and give you the strength and compassion to do what you do. Last but not least thank you Basie for the use of your car and phone. Sorry to all those that have lost their loved ones through this tragedy. Thank you The Namibian for granting me this opportunity. – Zaher* THANKS RCC for fixing the two dangerous potholes on the Rundu – Divundu tar road following my SMS complaint in The Namibian, May 15. But do not always wait for reminders! – Pothole victim* THANKS for the science features in The Namibian. Fascinating! Maybe you could cut down a bit on the fashion and bring more science. We have enough fashion but not enough science.* THANK you the NFA and the national team organisers for bringing the game to the home ground on the 6th. My request is can NFA please put up an agreement with the City of Windhoek to provide a bus service for special afternoons from Katutura to the Independence Stadium and let us know and to cut the cost of N$22 to N$12. We would love to see our national team playing with our live support. Please give this a try. – From Brave warrior lover * NBC Talk of the Nation. Ferdinand is doing well, thanks. How about running the name and title of panelists at each occasion of contribution in order to accommodate viewers who tune in late or students who may want to record details of panellists for reference checks? – HE //Guiob* NBC has lost it is credibility because it does not report activities of other political parties other than Swapo. History will judge you.* THANK you The Namibian for this opportunity. What on earth has happened to the NBC we used to know even our kids don’t want to be at home because there’s nothing on the TV. How long do we have to rent DVDs? Even the holidays aren’t what they used to be. What is happening with the money we are paying for the licences? Please NBC we have had enough.- Mrs Yankee* IT is a bit hypocritical of a paper that recently kicked up a storm over misspelled names to continually misspell Mbakondja’s name as Bakondja. Or is it only an affront to misspell European names but OK to violate the spelling of African languages?- That is the official spelling that has been given to us. Bakondja also spells his name as we have printed it. – News Editor* I AM a Zimbabwean staying here in Namibia so I want to say it as it is. Our embassy for Zimbabwe is treating us badly. How can they charge us N$600 for an emergency travelling document which is valid for 21 days whilst here in Namibia a passport costs N$160. It is the same way which you are treating us back home. Please our ambassador Mrs Chipo Zindoga your charges are too high. You must think again. The paper must cost at least $N50. – Washington DC in OtaviBe Careful* FELLOW Namibians watch out for this new method of thugs. I was almost robbed at a Standard Bank ATM Katutura branch one weekend afternoon. A guy who was at the ATM advised me to insert my card and press the second left buttons on the machine and again press cancel button. I wanted to know why and he informed me it is due to ‘the money laundering’. Another guy came and confirmed it was true, and all ATMs should be operated that way. I inserted my card but refused to put in my pin number but phoned the bank to cancel my card anyway. Be careful it can happen to anyone.Going Loco* WHY are TransNamib passenger trains like the Omugulugwombashe to the North on halt, while the one to the coast is still ferrying humans despite officials’ claims that railways are unsafe for us? We all know that the entire country received heavy destructive rains but it seems that only the rail from Windhoek to Walvis Bay was immune to it! The answer is quite simple: the elites’ transport businesses to the North will be hit very hard!- Mike, loyal train passenger* THE Chinese steemelas (trains) were a flop. I know the guys involved in buying trains from China don’t buy their shoes from Chinese shops but they should have learned well a lesson from the multi-million statue that was erected at the Heroes Acre. Its foot magically broke off after one year and now the four trains at N$50 million each have all been broken by the Namibian sand and heat, and Namibia still itching to buy seven more, how ironic? Surely if we are not cursed then we are brain sick to fork out more taxpayers money on junk.- Tate dumbo* TRANSNAMIB why did you not buy your locos from SA? Now they are fixing your old locos. You know how to waste money and resources.Running the Show* PROPER management must be put in place by the Ministry of Safety. The issue of overcrowded prison cells, especially in Windhoek where there are two police services, City and Namibian Police, suspects from both are locked up in the same cells. That means as there is an increase in the police services then the prisons need to be increased too. Let the Ministry responsible act and not just remain quite please.* NAMIBIAN eligible voters wake up. It is time to make our voices heard and try to understand why we should vote, whom to vote for, which party to vote for. I think voter education is very important, so try to attend such training especially women in the Land of the Brave. Sis Gwen please published this request.* IN my opinion I think the whole Ministry of Home Affairs should be restructured. Nineteen years after Independence we are still using the old system of the apartheid era, are we truly unable to afford modern technology? Or maybe somebody in the top structures of this ministry is not doing their homework (researching another possibility of a fast effective system). No wonder if people are found dead without any ID it takes time to identify them. Please somebody should do something, this particular ministry is in a shambles!- Eligible voterGeneral* IT is funny how some people cry foul for everyone to hear if they are in a position where they are receiving unfair treatment or are neglected. The same people, when promoted to a more advanced position in society or politics, will turn a blind eye to the very problems they were subjected to before. Are they only seeking attention or a comfortable life for themselves?* I AND many others are of the opinion that the City of Windhoek has no respect for Katutura residents. How do you approve the construction of so many churches around every corner and so close to people’s houses? We now have to endure churchgoers parking in front of our houses and singing till late at night.* WINDHOEK Central Hospital please fix your hot water. We are really suffering.- Patient* ARE there any Pilates classes in Windhoek?Labour Issues* WHY is it that when one applies for a post in Government in June 2009, you get to be interviewed in September 2009. If you pass the interview you only get the notice in January 2010 and get employed in June 2010. Why the long process? * DID the recently selected Employment Equity Commission Commissioners include representatives from the NGO sector? International NGOs are big culprits in flouting EEC requirements. They run to recruit so called ‘experts’, mostly expatriates, at the expense of qualified Namibians under the pretext that Namibians are not suitably qualified.Politics* ANGOLANS only? The world’s a global village. Wake up and smell the coffee tate kulu!* IT is about time that politicians start talking sense. We are in the 21st century now. Our enemies are poverty, diseases and ignorance.* WHAT does Africa Day have to do with Swapo? Why did the leaders and others dress up in their Swapo colours when the day is about Africa? Or is it now a Swapo day?* I WOULD like to propose that every member of executives who intend to address a political meeting must do it under the expense of their own political party. This one I think is important in curtailing the extra expenditure our treasury is incurring every day. Because some of the officials just pretend to attend to official duties while in fact the aim is only for political ambition and financial benefits. Why can we not take the initiative before it is too late.- Concerned citizen* THE way that political parties are campaigning for elections in Namibia has changed for the better, thanks to the president of the republic of Namibia Mr Hifikepunye Pohamba. What happened yesterday at Kabila’s ‘pub’, at Onefidi was quite remarkable. We were a sizeable number of RDP members having a good time singing and chanting our party songs when a convoy of Swapo vehicles changed their direction and headed straight to where we were. So all of us went towards their convoy. They had their fists up in air and we had our hands crossed high up above our heads as symbol of RDP. To the Swapo people’s surprise one of our RDP cadres went straight to one of the Swapo vehicle and shook hands with them. Viva democracy viva Namibia. – A Shindjoba* I WONDER why the Founding Father (President Sam Nujoma) is always talking of imperialism at this point and age instead of talking development and black empowerment. Surely he relishes the days of colonialism hence his party has maintained a colonial name. It’s time Swapo changes its name to align itself with the new Namibia.* WHAT exactly is the Founding President’s status? Has he not resigned from active politics? In what capacity does he get to address a Swapo rally and speak on what the GRN can allow? Clearly the Cde is chronically stuck in the archaic liberation rhetoric of imperialist and solving problems with ‘bullets in people’s heads’ and ‘dealing with them’ whatever that entails. * SPYL, you ask why big fishes of the ODC – N$100 million, SSC – N$30 million, Defence – N$3 million are not targeted by the ACC. Please join our honest leaders in ‘The Great Walk Against Corruption’.Politics In General* THE world must react urgently to the Somalia situation, to avoid repeating history of the 1994 Rwanda genocide. On the sea, pirates are the masters and in the capital city they are also in control. How defenceless the Government troops and AU peacekeepers are? We are tired of these extremists of Somalia.- Tuyoleni FritzPlease Help!* WE the residents of Gladiola/Martha Street, Khomasdal, close to the newly-fenced Oponganda cemetery, are living in agony. The entrance facing Martha/Gladiola Street has become the new hot spot for criminal attacks daily. Schools reopen soon and that junction is our taxi drop of point for our children coming from school. Polytech and Unam knock off at about 21h00 to 22h00. The criminals wait at the entrance pretending to be passers-by and wait for whoever is dropped there to rob them. Some get injured and lose valuable items. Please City Police we are calling you everyday about what is happening at this area. Protect us please! Please!- Concerned resident* I AM a Namibian citizen, now 25 years, but until now I do not have Namibian documents. They don’t want to give me the documents, but I have all the documents of my parents. What can I do? Please help.Youth* WHY not build a juvenile home in the respective regions, rather than let these young boys stay in holding cells. Please do something Swapo!* I HAD a dream! Let all unemployed youth set up an alliance that has to be given a mandate to mobilise its members to come up with concrete progress to rally against unemployment.- TIA, WindhoekIn And From the Regions* WE at Helao Nafidi Town Council in the Ohangwena Region, need the CEO to be appointed before things get much worse. Hon Jerry Ekandjo what are you waiting for? It has been almost ten months now please do act now.- Watchdog* I TOTALLY agree Keetmanshoop Maintenance Court has no heart or ear for women.* PLEASE NBC at Otjiwarongo try to update the radio services in town. Why is only Omulunga radio aired from 06h00 to 08h00 in the morning time. We want to listen. Why is NBC off air that time?- JJK* WE want Namibian time in Caprivi please. This difference in one country is segregationist and secessionist. Please Caprivi time.Education* ERUNDU SSS teachers are not coping and I think it is because they still don’t have a permanent principal, but they must just do their job.- Concerned* GOVERNMENT study loans are offered to students very late. That causes poor vulnerable orphan students to be refused to sit for exams. As a result they drop their courses at the Polytechnic and Unam. Please Ministry of Education solve this big problem by awarding loans early in February each year.* THE Ministry of Education must do something about teachers that depart from schools in the middle of the term because learners are getting behind until a new teacher is found please.- Concerned parent* WHAT is the title of Mr Nujoma’s research work and will it be available in print?* PLEASE Institute of Open Learning. Is it true? Did we waste our time? Please clear up the matter of ACE not being recognised by NQA. – Concerned student, KeetmanshoopTaxi Talk* CAN someone please investigate the taxi fee from Swakop to Henties which is forever rising. It is now N$45 for 70km. Where we pay N$50 from Swakop to Usakos – 147km, N$30 from Windhoek to Rehoboth. What’s the difference about Henties? Price should be reduced at least to N$30.Sporting* I FAIL to understand the selection of the Namibian invitational rugby team to play against the South Africans. For the past two months we were made to believe that it is a Namibian team with four or five foreign players, with the purpose of preparing them to play against Morocco, however this seems to be the exact opposite. This is again a case of big brother SA showing their superiority over smaller nations. This is purely a money making scheme, whilst I don’t want to see SA playing against itself. And please don’t call this team a Namibian team, because it is not* THE Namibian rugby! Namibian rugby is going the drain due that Namibian players are not given enough exposure against high ranking rugby nations. Look at the Nam Inv XV that will play the Boks. Fifty per cent are not even Namibian why? Where is the Namibian team that toured Argentina? Both team’s players are seen on TV week in and out Super 14. I am not going to watch that Namibia is not playing in, it’s all South Africans. Me I am not going to waste my money. I am a proud Namibian.Service Please* HOME Affairs Ministry! I applied for a passport last year December and I paid my N$160 but up to now I didn’t get the passport. Then I asked for my refund and I was told that there is no refund. How come there is no refund if I didn’t receive the passport I have paid for?* FNB service is poor at Walvis Bay. A person is not allowed to make three deposits at once and queues are too long. We have got many families to send money to and work to attend. I hope opening another branch will help a bit please.* WE want MTC to step up and start offering free SMSes to contract customs. – Willem N * ON May 20 I was at Shoprite and it was payday for the teachers and police officers. There were a lot of people I would say maybe a 100 people in the shop but only one till was open. The others were chatting! Is that how you are supposed to treat your clients. – Luigi Mensah* PICK n Pay Wernhil should not take us clients for a ride by advertising chicken braaipacks of 2kg for sale and not have them in stock.* I WANTED to buy the latest Speed & Sound magazine which include a free DVD. I went to the two Shell fuelling station shops at Tacoma Str\Mandume Ndemufayo Ave to buy the mag. To my excitement I found the mag, paged through it and made the discovery no DVD! Later that evening I bought a mag from Beukes Spar, DVD included! I make an outcry that staff\customers must leave all reading material as received.* OMARURU Spar, stop charging us directly for the grocery bags, just add the grocery bag price to the groceries, so that we can`t feel that ‘pain, follow the good example of otjiwarongo super spar, so as to become one day super Spar.* DEAR Telecom Namibia if you don’t care anymore about repairing your public phones in Windhoek please stop selling telecards because 85 per cent of your public phones are out of order. Lost And Found* FEDERAL Republic of Germany identity card of Johannes Paulinus Dernbach found. Contact Mr Simeon at 081-234-4019 for your identity card.
