NNN welcomes Pope Leo XIV

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has welcomed the election of Catholic cardinal Robert Prevost who has adopted the name Pope Leo XIV.

In her congratulatory message, the president says she looks forward to working with the Holy See on matters of peace and justice in the world.

“I congratulate cardinal Robert Prevost on his outstanding election as head of the Catholic Church and the Vatican City.”

“Namibia welcomes the appeal for peace, tolerance and the commitment of Pope Leo XIV to build bridges between nations through the Catholic faith. As president of Namibia I look forward to working with Pope Leo XIV to advance our shared universal values for a peaceful and just humanity,” she says.
