* WHY is the price of food going up? Please! The cost of food must go down. People will die of hunger. Then when the people die there will be no next generation. Work will be not there and the country will not develop. Please lower the cost.* HOUSING and medical costs are spiralling out of control in this land. Nobody is doing anything.

Are you still in charge? Or zzz! It’s your job!
Food For Thought* WELL, for the first time I also feel my voice should be heard especially on the issue of ‘children of the struggle’. Instead of blocking the roads and being contributing factors to environmental health hazards, they better involve themselves in productive projects to uplift themselves instead of waiting to be spoon-fed by the GRN. Most of them are of my age and I believe we had equal opportunities to attend school and create the future. * THE atrocious spelling of road signs aside, has the municipality considered the cost of lighting all these road signs? And yet they want us to be more conservative in our use of electricity. Lead by example!Bouquets And Brickbats* TO say 10 bullets for a handbag is a rather simplistic summary of a complex issue, i.e. crime. City Police, you are doing an excellent job.* WE would like to thank the sisters at the prem unit at Katutura Hospital. They are very caring and supportive. Well done. May God bless them. – Mare
* AS a Namibian, I’m fed up with Swapo’s dominance of our news coverage! * POINT of correction to someone who said Namibia is going to the dogs because the inauguration of President (Jacob) Zuma was not screened on NBC. My dear, you’re very harsh with Namibia as a country. Do you know how much it costs a financially challenged NBC to broadcast that? It is nice to see our fellow neighbour being inaugurated but NBC is not obliged I think. I’m sure even SABC wouldn’t have broadcast that if it was in Namibia. And I’m sure people in SA did not think Namibia is going to the dogs because NBC didn’t broadcast them. If you really wanted to see that you should’ve checked SABC channels on DSTV or go to SA for that. Please people let us be pragmatic when passing criticisms and let us check our words when expressing our feelings. NBC is just a company like others and if it failed to satisfy you please tell NBC, don’t insult the country. I hope next time you will not expect The Namibian to publish the speech of His Excellency Zuma. Please note that I’m not working for the NBC. – Mike!* IS it true that the NBC reporter who was reporting on (President Jacob) Zuma’s inauguration was wearing ANC colours in earrings and a dress?* WHEN I saw that the Namibia Bowling Association had some recognition at last. Wonderful. The one sports code that usually brings a medal back. Watch for it … gold no less. Please The Namibian, the President of NBA is Dave Hutchins, not Mike Hutchins. – We’ve made a note of the name. – News Editor
*WE citizens of the North are always the last to receive newspapers. We are tired of this. At the time people go to sleep. It’s the time the newspapers arrive at the shops. We are not happy with the incompetence of the NBC. We should get our papers on time. What is the use of The Namibian’s office being here?- King Hustler- We are looking into this as a matter of urgency. – Newsdesk Many Happy Returns* HAPPY birthday Comrade Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma on your 80th birthday. May the Lord bless you with many more years so you continue to guide and remain our inspiration! Enjoy your day comrade! – Akudhenga* I WOULD like to wish the Founding President Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma a happy birthday. May Almighty God continue to guard you and give you more strength and wisdom and many more years. Happy birthday, we feel proud of you.City Fathers Please …* CITY Police please close these bars in Tauben Glen on time! The liquor licence says 02h00, but the people leave at sunrise. We are working people and need our rest! They are in a residential area and should respect us.Politics* WHAT are the requirements for someone to retire from politics? If you want to retire, it is your own decision. Don’t disturb our Founding Father. Concentrate on your own business. – Steven
* MEDIA houses that regularly keep (SPYL Secretary Elijah) Ngurare’s disrespectful and childish tantrums towards Government institutions established by the Head of State and reputable NGOs alive, are seeking sensation and giving him the dubious importance he does not deserve. Where are we going with all this? * WHY is Mr Ngurare so loud about the ODC millions but he is silent on the SSC scandal? Let him demand ACC to probe investigation into the SSC. Leave (Mrs Veronica) de Klerk and focus on unemployment among the youth.- Okongo
* THUMBS up to what Mr Ngurare said about the ACC hunting down small fish and leaving sharks untouchable? What goes around will bounce back. One day a spade will be called a spade. * NGURARE of SPYL: You continue to make statements without consulting the Tanga Elders. Do not spoil the institution you have inherited from patriots like Ndali Kamati, Kalomo and Hadino.
General* I JUST want to ask who is the Namibian Kwaito king? Is it Dogg or Gazza? It’s confusing these days, why can’t we have one Kwaito king. Who deserves that and why?* SOME Cabinet Ministers’ English is just too much to ignore, it irritates a person’s ear. Can’t they please attend some English language lessons in the evenings? * BBC and CNN habitually refer to Africa collectively. On the other hand they refer to England, Germany, Spain and not Europe. They must learn. They have been in the game long.
* I AM one of the so-called struggle children. The campers disappoint me greatly. I have never met my so-called father but I am now a software engineer.Health Matters* CAN the MOHSS tell the nation why there was no HIV testing campaign at Okahandja Park at Dr Frans Aupa Indongo School? We also want to be tested like others.* WHY are disabled persons being chased away from the Oshakati Intermediate Hospital? In Ward 16, one patient was admitted in 1984, one was admitted in 1989, one was admitted in 2000 and another in 2001 but until now they are still in the ward. Education* TO Omukwashigwana SMS of May 8, I do agree that money is needed to buy school materials for our kids. Anyway, education got the biggest chunk of the budget during the past years, yet every year we have kids with no books or no places. After all the big spending, the problem still prevails. If you have been fixing same problem for over 10 years then something is very wrong with your strategies. You see one problem is that 80 per cent of the education budget goes to salaries, leaving little for capital projects. Government is trying to fix the problem yet it does not know where the problem lies in the system, now it’s like a doctor operating on a patient with a panga or axe! Can a doctor operate on you if s/he does not know what’s wrong with you? Throwing in money left and right won’t cut it. First find the problem and then the solution. Dr Martin Ndumba is falling apart despite the big budget. Now you tell me how many of our leaders’ kids attend public school!- Pashukeni
*PLEASE remind Mr Nahas Angula that he introduced this ‘failed-proven’ education system in 1990! * DIEGO Gonzalez Rodriguez please stop whining about corporal punishment in schools. If you are a ‘victim’ of such treatment I cannot help but think that you must be one of those unruly kids trying to avoid punishment for your own wrongdoings. If you don’t misbehave you would have nothing to worry about, would you? Our biggest societal mistake these days is that children are not properly disciplined any more. Take what you deserve when you deserve it.- TheoLabour Issues* IT is true all lazy public workers must fired. * DOES Social Security only pay out to persons who retired at the age of 60? Can one also claim money when early retired? Thank you. n I WORKED at a courier company for one year without overtime. We started work at 00h00 in the morning and than we ended 19h00 at night. Can someone please tell me where can I claim my overtime.* WE the employees we want our bosses to help us to give us at least a half of our pension before we get old, so that we can use our money please. * WE are 26 employees on board the research vessels Welwitschia in Walvis Bay and Anichab in Lüderitz. We have been jobless as of May 1 2009. Can someone in the ministry tell us what is happening. How will we feed our families at month-end.- Welwitschia crewService Please* DO municipal bus drivers go for customer service training? Because one was very rude and heartless driving past a normal bus stop were I get off and dropping me at a much further one. Never mind me the customer in front of him telling him to stop. What if it was an elderly person? That is bad customer service! * ICDL Ongwediva, please improve your service especially for those attending afternoon classes from 17h00 to18h30.
* FIRST National Bank of Namibia and Nedbank: We want funeral cover from you bank. Like others are doing e.g. Bank Windhoek, Standard Bank and NamPost. Pease help us.
* FNB we graded you as the best bank with the best service ever, and we will not take that away from you. But hey what is up with cellphone banking? It is to two months now and whenever I call I am told it will be just fine after some minutes I must keep trying. I must tell you the truth I tried on the 25th of last month when I was working in the field 150 km from home and my grandmother was serious sickly and there was no money and I was supposed to help out. Please that is not ‘how you can help me’.In And From the Regions* WHY does the Ongwediva Town Council locate the dumping site in the vicinity of Elyambala residents? Now after 16h00 smoke is all over the place when they burn their refuse. We are very concerned about our health coughing every time and our outfits smell bad. Please we need help. – Concerned citizen
