EDUCATION * We call on Nantu to investigate the agreement teachers enter into with the Institute of Open Learning. Among others, teachers are not allow to cancel their study agreement with IOL, while IOL changes the agreement without consulting the affected teachers. Some of us want to cancel the agreement and want our money to be refunded.

* LOWER grades should have different teachers for different subjects. The system of one teacher for all subjects is tiring. * MY children are attending school at PPS in Katutura. With big disappointment I found poor teachers making copies from outside using their own paper and paying out of their own pockets.POLICE MATTERS AND HOLDING CELLS* I WOULD like the Ministry of Safety to investigate the state of the Police holding cells at Swakopmund. The cells are infested with lice and cockroaches.* A POLICE cell is not a five-star hotel. I don’t think a suspect, criminal and all the law offenders should expect five-star treatment in Police cells or everybody will commit crime just to live in a Police hotel for free. – Scady.* MANY experienced and effective criminal investigators have been suspended from the Police. Can their disciplinary cases be finalised so that they return to the force and help with investigations?* DON’T expect jails to be like hotels.ISSUES FROM THE REGIONS* It would seem that MP Hakaye is only concerned with politics, instead of developing and improving infrastructure such as the roads between Okalongo and Oshikuku or Okalongo and Ombalantu. If he cannot develop the area, he should give a chance to others.* CAN the Governor of Oshana tell us why the Omashekediva and Elago schools do not have electricity despite having been linked to the national electricity grid six years ago?* DOES one really have to lobby the members of the Resettlement Committee (Traditional Authorities) to be allocated a resettlement farm, as it is case in the Karas Region?* MANAGEMENT of Erongo RED must pay a visit to Rehoboth Town Council to learn how they distribute electricity to the community. You can even buy electricity for five dollars any time at the various shopping outlets.* THE people living at Omuzile village in the Oshikoto Region are faced with many problems. We don’t have a hospital and have to travel to Onandjokwe or Eenhana when we get sick. The councillor of our constituency does not hold meetings with the community to know about the problems faced by the people. – Kase* I AM a youth in the Omuthiya area and want to ask why our council never holds community meetings or even informs us about developments over the radio. If the councillor cannot lead, he must step aside and give the reins to others who can lead.* WHY is there is no water in the Otamanzi area? I don’t understand why we have councillor here. He must do his job. We want to see improvement at Otamanzi.THE AIRWAVES* WHY is Omulunga radio not available in Katima, Otavi and Okahao?* NBC (both Radio and TV) must repair the transmitter in Ndiyona constituency, Kavango Region because there has been no TV signal since February 2007 and the corporation is expecting TV owners to pay licences this year for what? We have been deprived of information for almost half a year now and there is no sign that it is going to change.* ‘PAY Your TV licence, it is the right thing to do’ were the words of Bob Kandetu, the Director General of the NBC. But if we don’t have reception, why should we pay?* Why is the Rukavango service of the NBC not available in the coastal areas? We were promised in 2003 that the service would come to the coast, but we are still waiting. Is this Independence for everybody or only some language groups?* MULTICHOICE! We are paying a lot of money.Please stop repeating programmes. Improve your service please!KATITI PAYOUT* IF the Keetmanshoop municipality could write off debts of about four million, why can’t the Walvis Bay council do the same? After all they have millions to give away to their former CEO.* THE ACC should investigate the N$2,8 million payout of the former CEO of Walvis Bay.* WHY are people concerned with the payout Katiti received from the Walvis Bay municipality? He did not steal the money, he worked for it. N$2,8 million is little in comparison to the N$30 million lost by the Social Security Commission. – Pombili* THE payout to Katiti, the former CEO of Walvis municipality, just shows how public funds are wasted. Shame on today’s leaders!* WHAT – N$2.8 million for a CEO? Thousands go hungry in the country, while a few pocket millions of dollars.* THE Walvis Bay municipality must provide the nation with the formula used to calculate the N$2,8 million paid to Katiti. Otherwise ACC must investigate. – PhilipHEALTH WOES* I THINK the Government has enough money to renovate hospitals. If they can build one house costing millions of dollars, then they can certainly renovate hospitals.* The Department responsible for cleaning State hospitals must be phased out and tenders given to private cleaning companies. This will address the problem of unhygienic conditions in State hospitals.* WHY do nurses at Robert Mugabe clinic send patients to Katutura clinic after being in the queue for two hours? Where the hell do they think we get the taxi money to commute around Windhoek? n WHY are State hospitals and clinics are so dirty? What are the duties of cleaners in hospitals? The Ministry of Health must do something.GENERAL* THE Ministries of Defence, Home Affairs and Prison and Correctional Services should also place their vacancy advertisements in The Namibian, since Republikein and New Era in which these advertisements are placed are not available in all areas. It is time that announcements are made in all newspapers.* TRIBALISM IS rife in the NDF. Briefings and instructions are given in Oshiwambo. What’s happening?* I THINK the Cabinet must not consider political affiliation when appointing CEOs to state-owned enterprises. In most instances the CEOs are incompetent and inexperienced and are controlled by powerful political interests.* WE call on the ACC to investigate the N$110 dollars members of the force pay towards a group scheme.* IN history textbooks, the Father of the Nation is indicated as Hosea Kutako. Now we have another Father of the Nation. How many fathers will we have at the end?* SWAPO, when do you intend informing us about our family members who died while imprisoned by the party? Cleanest city with dirtiest Police cells and hospitals. It does not make sense. Let’s clean up the whole city, now!* I’M concerned about our national soccer team which hasn’t yet qualified for the FIFA world cup.* Master of High Court must have customer care and show understanding for people’s problems. I’ve been sent back twice for invalid reasons. Our money was paid to the Master of High Court from GIPF. When we claim they send us back for no apparent reason. There is always something outstanding. Imagine someone travelling from the north to Windhoek and being sent back again.* I WANT to congratulate the Deputy Prime Minister to the work she has done for the San people. Keep up the good work.* I HAVE lost trust and hope in the Swapo government. Elections are around the corner, be warned dear comrades.* IF Nangombe feels the taxis and buses are too many, let him reduce his own fleet for a start. – Philip* ‘JUSTICE Delayed is Justice Denied.’ Last year a corruption case was reported to the ACC against the City Police. Has the case been scrapped from the roll as predicted or what happened?* THE Coca-Cola Football Stars competition is a good platform to give a platform to school football. In spite of the tireless efforts of the organisers, the good is marred by biased refereeing and substandard food. The sponsors should try to improve on these two points if they want to have it seen as a prestige event.* REGULAR inspections should be conducted at government houses and flats. Those tenants who do not take proper care of the property must be ordered to vacate.* I WAS disappointed with The Namibian of Friday, July 20, because the ‘Political Perspective’ is not available because of Gwen’s absence. But, RE Hunter did pretty well with T Blair. Keep up the good work. We love reading The Namibian. True leaders inspire, educate and motivate followers.* COMMUNITIES living along the Kongola Water Pipe in Caprivi Region are suffering due to lack of water. What’s Regional government doing to assist the affected communities? Do you want to see people dying before assistance is availed?
