* SPY laws, tobacco laws and then what next? It seems the Government is looking for reasons to violate every one of my rights! Sirs, you will enter my house over my dead body only. The newspaper calls it ‘draconian’, I call it idiotic. What are these lawmakers smoking? Are these people in control of their faculties? It seems not. Lawmakers in this country are getting more ridiculous by the day! Anyway who are these ‘lawmakers’ and who appointed them? People, get real, please. You are making yourselves look stupid.
Food For Thought* SURELY [Founding President] Sam Nujoma is guilty of the worst degree of hate speech and racism. All for his misplaced loyalty in one of Africa’s worst leaders. Is nobody going to act against his illegal statements? Does he remain untouched by this country’s laws? Politics* CAN somebody please advise the former President to stop his hate speeches against white people? We are tired of excuses for Swapo’s failure to address the real issues.* SOME years ago a Herero-speaking citizen displayed a placard with the words: ‘Kill all whites’. He was arrested. When Dr Nujoma says Englishmen must be hit with a hammer on the head – nothing. * RECONCILIATION will never work in Namibia if Sam Nujoma continues to draw lines between whites and blacks. He needs to start referring all those in Namibia as Namibians and those living outside the country by their country’s name and not as whites. He must realise that his rhetoric against whites will cause division in Namibia that Namibia cannot afford.* FROM a Father of the Nation to the nation where you hit your fellow Namibians, who happen to be Englishmen, with a hammer on the head. I always thought fatherhood is about love and caring.* WE Swapos always said: ‘An injury to one is an injury to all’. We as Swapo must also remember that: ‘A statement by one is a statement by all’. I do herewith refer to Dr Nujoma’s hate speech of hitting all Englishmen with a hammer. We as Swapo are co-responsible for this irresponsible statement* SWAPO Party’s two presidents are speaking two languages in their presidential race. Ex-President Nujoma raves against ‘whites’ while President Pohamba is praising the ‘whites’ (the Pakistanis) for supporting his campaign. This anti-white tirade will lead to many problems.* I WON’T bother to vote – all parties are just talk and no action.* WHY are Swapo activities always covered and photos fully published for almost two to three days in your newspaper. We of the RDP had our Electoral College but only one photo was shown. We will lift the ban next year after taking over the GRN.- Shaka, Outjo- What we publish on any particular day is often dependent on the space available. Unfortunately, yesterday and today our space was tight. You will have noticed that we have, for example, given good coverage to other opposition parties in the past week, i.e. the DTA and the UDF. We hope to publish more RDP photos during the course of the week. – News Editor* I COMMEND the generous donation by the Pakistani business people from Oshikango. However I would like to alert the minister to a possible case of disguised bribery by in return asking for the processing of visas for their expatriate workers. What special skills are they bringing to Namibia? Investors should help with job creation as opposed to bringing in cheap, semi-skilled expatriates. We should open our eyes.- Dovo!* GOOD, now Swapo Party is a notorious foreign-funded organisation. Yes, its political campaign is heavily funded by the businesspeople from the violence-prone, undemocratic and human-rights-violation-implicated countries like Pakistan and China. Who is betraying our democracy and fooling us here?NWR Affair* TUNGENI Africa’s plan for Von Bach is reminiscent of Ramatex’s environmental assessment report which was approved out of expediency hence putting Namibia’s underground water at risk. It’s clear that the NWR-PPP will enrich the already well-to-do in our society who are close to power structures. If so, will Namibia ever close the gap between the haves and have-nots?* JEALOUS Namibians why do you want to put all these young fine-tuned Namibians down? Mr Tobie Aupindi we salute you for your bravery, turnaround strategies! Why do you hate him, is it because he is a young, black, dynamic and intelligent? John Grobler you are jealous, tell us what your destructive agenda is, and who is paying you then we will get your long mad stories! – I doubt that anyone hates Tobie Aupindi. From your SMS it seems that you don’t have a problem with the facts, but are upset that they’ve been published? – News Editor* PRESIDENT of the Republic of Namibia, can you please tell the nation why some people are earning 140 thousand a month while the next Namibian’s yearly salary is not even there. Our President, those on high salaries have again all the allowances. Will the gap stop or are we heading to another oppression, this time by our own people. This can really not happen in your eyes or are the newspapers misleading the nation.* HOW could the Cabinet approve a monthly salary of N$140 000 while refusing to upgrade the N$450 for the old citizens. Can Mr Tobie Aupindi be more valuable than 280 other Namibians? (see The Namibian, Monday Sept 21). Is he being rewarded for selling national assets to comrades? How was that astronomical salary fixed? The next struggle should be to bring that money back.Etosha, jewel of the North* THE current chaos at NWR comes as no surprise. I have been struggling for more than a month to make a simple booking at Etosha for four people. Despite e-mails and telephone calls to NWR, no reply since August 18. * JOHN Grobler deserves a medal for his article and Aupindi should be fired instead of given a salary raise! That’s just more corruption! n NWR: This is self-enrichment going on at NWR. Aupindi must give answers!Election Fever* ECN Tenders: How can ECN officials not be in uniform. Why is the tender for T-shirts always given to foreigners (Bulgarians). We have capable Namibians that can do the work.* DEAR ECN Chairman and Director, please explain this to me and to the nation at large: what does it mean when your Portuguese-speaking member of your registration team at Gabriel Taapopi SSS wears an MPLA T-shirt while on duty registering Namibians? Does it mean that your staff members can put on their political parties’ T-shirts or is it only when they are members of foreign political parties?* A BIG hand for the ECN for recruiting unemployed youth for the supplementary registration of voters for the upcoming November 2009 Election. But the allowance during the training is very low compared to the allowance given in 2003 Voters registration.Hot Debate* PLEASE talk in a good way about the smokers. If Minister Richard [Kamwi] can make small buildings for smokers then they can go and sit in that place and not harm the non-smokers please do something about it.- SmokerBouquets And Brickbats* CONGRATS NBC for the Sunday programmes Gospel Ya Rock and A New Season. Keep it going!- Munyoka* CONGRATULATIONS to Khorab school choir on their performance in Tsumeb. You guys really made me proud. We entered the competition for the first time and already made it to South Africa with 95% on points.- C7 (Choir Conductor) Otavi* WHERE is that lady [a school counsellor] for Khomas Region? She is educative and we need to hear more from her. NBC national radio, that programme is good.* JOHN Grobler’s article on ‘Beneficiaries of NWR partnerships revealed’ was an epic. I wouldn’t have known any of this if it wasn’t for his well-grounded analogy. (Hats off) Well done, Mr Grobler!* MTC, please stop your free calls at night. Some criminals were breaking into my house over the weekend but I couldn’t get hold of the Police because of the network which is ever busy from 22h00. They should please stop those free calls at night because we can’t even make emergency calls anymore and serious incidents mostly happen at night their putting our lives at risk now!- NdinelagoIn And From The Regions* PLEASE why doesn’t our Government construct tollgates at different towns [between Windhoek-Okahandja, Swakopmund-Walvis Bay, Outjo-Otjiwarongo] for income. Our country is known as one of the tourist attractions, and for that the country will earn more income.* SILIKUNGA streetlights have been on for 24 hours since August 18. We have complained about the same issue in April 2009 and Nored did the maintenance after an SMS appeared in The Namibian. The office at Nkurenkuru knows about this as every month they do take meter reading. The electrician they said went to SA is back and is around. How many SMSes are we to send to end this wasted energy?* SAVE lives! Nkurenkuru road – inspector please re-check this road. This road is creating a lot of accidents, while it’s not completed. Not quality work done.
