Whilst generally there is sympathy for non-striking employees, the question which every taxpayer would like to have answered is: Will our country ever see the end of illegal industrial actions if such actions seem to be: 1) Condoned by Government through its in ability to act decisively in the first place and 2) Government’s willingness to always come to the rescue of the culprits after the damage has already been done? When are you going to bail out civil servants?Education* I WAS shocked to see schoolboys drinking beer right after school in Otjiwarongo. How do parents expect these boys to pass? And the meme, how can she sell alcohol to schoolboys in school uniforms?* WHY can’t the schools give us off this week? It’s high time that the ministry employs school counsellors (especially for boarding school) and coaches. The problem I have is that the naming to General Muhammed was smuggled through outside the procedures.* I wonder why people are picking on naming a street after Murtala of Nigeria. The naming of streets after African leaders is without prejudice to Namibian heroes. I think the Namibian populace needs to be educated on their history and what diplomacy really means. We can’t attain the dream of continental unity and African integration if we continue to harbour myopic and colonial sentiments.* THE brouhaha on naming a street after an African son is triggered by people who either want to instigate hatred against fellow Africans or they fail to grasp the vision and aspirations of African leaders who dream of an Africa without the artificial colonial boundaries.
