Shishani performs for Dutch royal family

Multi award-winning and internationally touring artist Shishani recently performed for the Dutch royal family.

Shishani says having the opportunity to share her music with the Dutch royal family gave her a once in a life opportunity to share her story as an artist from Namibia and the messages that she stands for.

Shishani says she performed with the orchestra that she will tour with starting this week.

“We performed my upcoming single ‘River of Creation, which is about nurturing our connection to nature. Queen Maxima shared that she was touched by the message and urged me to continue this. King Willem-Alexander loved the Oshiwambo chorus in the song and said he felt a strong ‘force’ during that part.

“It was wonderful to perform at the Kings Day concert because we got to spread the message of diversity and inclusion in politically harsh and oppressive times in Europe and the rest of the world. It showed how music and the arts are powerful messengers and drivers of change,” she says.

Shishani says this platform has indicated her growth as an artist and motivated her to do more.

“As an independent artist it is wonderful to see how far I have come from where I have started. I started as a solo artist crossing the streets of Windhoek and now I’m sharing my work with the royals and a greater international platform. It was a such beautiful way to connect my journey as a travelling solo artist, to performing with the best orchestra in the Netherlands for an esteemed crowd,” Shishani says.

Shishani says her new single ‘River of Creation’ will be released on 25 April.
