Shell to drill new wells next year

Shell has announced plans to launch a new drilling campaign in Namibia’s offshore petroleum exploration licence 39 area.

Shell country manager Eduardo Rodriguez made the announcement through a LinkedIn post on Thursday.

“Shell together with our partners QatarEnergy and Namcor is preparing to launch a new drilling campaign. Drilling is set to commence in April 2026,” said Rodriguez.

Tamayo said the contract for the Deepsea Mira drilling unit, which is operated by Odfjell Drilling and owned by Northern Ocean, has been awarded.

“Local suppliers can contact Northern Ocean regarding potential subcontracting opportunities linked to the rigs operations,” said Rodriguez.
