Seven new targets putUis project in Askari’s sights

ASKARI Metals has identified seven new pegmatite targets at its Uis project in the Erongo region.

This adds to its exploration pipeline ahead of planned drilling later this year.

The Australian-listed company announced the discovery yesterday after completing an in-house hyperspectral study across its exclusive prospecting licence (EPL) 7345 and EPL 8535 licence areas near Uis.

The study identified four new targets at EPL 7345, named Eve, GP, MW and K10, and three on EPL 8535, named Tawny, Martial and Zebedeus-1.

K10 is the largest of the new targets, with an estimated strike length of 3.1km.

GP has an estimated strike length of 2.4km, while Tawny extends for about 2.2km.

The Uis project contains minerals, including tin, tantalum, lithium, rubidium and caesium.

Askari executive director Gino D’Anna says the findings had increased the number of targets available for future exploration.

“This study marks another important step in unlocking the scale and polymetallic potential of Uis. Our in-house hyperspectral work has now delivered seven new high-priority pegmatite targets, materially expanding the project’s pipeline ahead of the next phase of RC drilling,” he says.

Askari is already carrying out mapping and rock-chip sampling at the new target areas to prepare them for trenching and drilling.

The company has also identified a 15km-long and 5km-wide ‘corridor of interest’ at the project.

The area is considered prospective for lithium, tin and tantalum mineralisation and will be the focus of future exploration work.

To help with exploration, Askari has set up equipment at Uis for preparing and analysing samples, including a pellet press and a laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy machine.

Askari said the equipment will allow samples to be analysed on site, reducing the time needed to receive results and helping the company make faster exploration decisions.

The next phase of work will include regional soil and stream sediment sampling across the project area. The results will be used to design trenching programmes on licence areas and help identify additional targets.

Askari plans to begin reverse circulation drilling next quarter at the DP, OP, PS and K9 pegmatite targets at EPL 7345.

The Uis project is located less than 5km from Uis and is close to Andrada Mining’s operating Uis Tin Mine.
Askari owns 100% of EPL 7345 and 80% of EPL 8535.
