Selma Kamanya to launch Global Namibia 1 initiative

Selma Kamanya

Miss World Namibia 2025 Selma Kamanya is set to launch a new initiative, Global Namibia 1, aimed at positioning the country as a hub for tourism, trade and cultural exchange. The project will officially be unveiled in September.

According to Kamanya, the platform combines tourism promotion, international partnerships, youth empowerment and economic diplomacy.

“As Miss World Namibia, I have committed myself to be a global ambassador to ensure Namibia is not only seen, but remembered, celebrated and chosen,” she says.

Reflecting on her participation at Miss World, Kamanya says the experience highlighted the economic and cultural opportunities that can emerge from global connections.

“The pageant is a global economic and cultural platform. Delegates came from over 100 countries, each carrying networks of influence. By bringing this experience home, I’m showing Namibia the untapped potential of cultural exchange as a trade accelerator,” she says.

As part of the initiative, 11 international delegates with a combined audience of nearly one million followers will be hosted in Namibia for a two-week cultural and economic immersion tour. The project seeks to showcase the country’s natural beauty, innovation and investment potential, while also connecting young Namibians to global networks.

“Our greatest asset is our people, especially our youth,” Kamanya says. “We have incredible talent and resources, but many lack access to platforms that connect them to the world. Namibia is at a turning point – we are discovering oil and gas, pioneering green hydrogen and entering global conversations about sustainability and innovation. But who will drive these opportunities? Our youth.”

Kamanya says Global Namibia 1 is designed to give young Namibians visibility and opportunities on an international stage while promoting Namibia as a forward-looking and inclusive destination.
